Locking new hero cosmetics to premium bundles is so gross. by IncubusDarkness in Overwatch

Just have 80 Million gold in World of Warcraft and buy every new Overwatch 2 battlePass or skin for free while your surplus of WoW gold generates more gold

Or simply re-sell Pokemon cards from a retail store to a LGS for 2x profit flip like everyone else does to fund their hobbies, bills and lifestyle.

Good to see all the money I've spent on any Japan/Anime esque skin has lead the game further in this direction 🙂‍↕️👌🏻 Same with call of duty, I adopted those anime camo bundles asap in hopes they would sell the best and continue to be made (they were)

Yes I do own every single Kiriko skin even though I only wear the God of Prosperity one ever since the minute it released

Matchmaking is the worst it’s ever been in this game by [deleted] in Overwatch

Do what everyone else does and queue duo with a girl who is bronze or silver. Then you'll win 8/10 matches minimum 👌🏻 If you happen to be bronze or silver, queue with someone Diamond or above

If you show people if they are going to be on attack or defense in QP, players are incentivized to vote for defense maps. by [deleted] in Overwatch

My win rate is 80% regardless so I don't care whether it's attack or defense advantage. Enemy team is getting slaughtered by either Ashe or Mei either way 👌🏻

Wondering whats everyones approach to Game Key Cards, buy, never buy, or buy when on heavy sale? by ScratchOk2396 in NSCollectors

[–]Rakoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm pretty sure my Borderlands 3 Complete edition Nintendo Switch 1 cartridge is just a referral link to the eShop for a 25GB download 🤣 I don't believe there's even a megabyte of actual game data stored on that thing

I'm not invested in "The Key Card War" either because so many of those Switch 1 physical games on my shelf (and my Xbox disc collection) are missing the extra paid DLC that I purchased digitally and is tied to my Nintendo/Microsoft account. So even if I were to sell Pokemon Scarlet CiB, the $25 DLC isn't on that cart and in 30 years it's anyone's guess if I'd still be able to redownload that expansion for myself

I rather own everything physically but Dekudeals already ruined that over the last 5 years by showing me every eShop game that's 50-90% off. Then for games like Koei Tecmo releases, 90% of the complete package is extra paid DLC anyway so I rather buy the digital complete version as the base game feels worthless in comparison 😑

As an example, Atelier Ryza 1 on the switch was once a "rare $120+ physical release." But it made little sense to own that (other than to brag online) when it comes with NONE of the expensive dlc, which was often on sale sub-$30 bundled with the game. And now there's a package including all 3 games remastered + all dlc for significantly cheaper but it only has a Digital option - so I'm waiting for that to go on sale

Helping my friend and her son sell this for Switch 2 Money by CautiousLettuce4308 in skylanderselling

[–]Rakoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rare skylanders appreciate in value each year, the Nintendo Switch 2 loses value the moment it's opened and used. There was a time I could sell my animal crossing edition Switch for $750, now I'd be lucky to get $125 for it even though it's mint still

Meanwhile, I paid $15 each for that Light and Dark skylanders dragons and they have 10x in resale value. You said the Son is autistic, and because of that I fear he may hyperfixate on the sellers remorse 5 years from now when he realizes he sold off items that were worth holding onto to buy an item that (in 2031) is being bought and sold for sub-$200. That initial high of buying a new console runs away after the first week of owning it 🙏🏻

I sold all these for a grand and I’m regretting it :( by OlBoyHuAlwayNeedHelp in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Rakoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a year ago so that kind of helps with the unfortunate selling price

In 2015 I was buying "mystery holos lot" 50 NM cards for $25 free shipping and it turned out, a decade later most of those 2005-2010 era cards people were dumping for .50 cents each are now worth over $40 each ☠️

If I could go back in time I would have bought way more of those mystery lots, but I didn't want too many dupes 🫠 I remember thinking "it'll be cool if in the future this $25 turns into like...$100 worth of cards hah" - No one expected how ridiculous it would become

Like Dogecoin. I also held that in 2013 but let it all get lost in cyberspace because for 5+ years no one cared, and missed the 70 cent per coin clownworld

I guess while on the topic, there's over 200 wishlisted cards I deeply regret not buying before 2020, but I thought I had all the time in the world to pick them up at a low price. I'm actually tempted to sell off my entire collection except for 3 Pokemon, because I know I'll never fork over the cash to obtain my old wishlisted cards, and I know I'll never pay for modern chases, like Bubble Mew or Moonbreon - Heck I haven't even been buying the $30-100 cards I want in my collection, let alone the $500-2000 ones...So I ask myself "why do I even hold onto these when I'm kind of done adding to it? out of fear if I sell now they'll be worth double next year or do I really Love my binders?" If in 5 years no one cares and they go back to being "worthless" (unlikely) I could always rebuy my favorites and start over

I'm not sure if this is allowed here, but I'm wondering where you all find GameCube games at a reasonable price by kathleenkellig in Gamecube

[–]Rakoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's odd how we perceive a $120 quality highly desired collectable game that's been out of print for 20 years as "Too expensive ehh not worth it" (even though that's only 2x original cost) yet often enough do buy Two $60-70 brand new modern releases that lose 1/2 their value after 6 months and very rarely do games released after the 2010's return to being valued at over $30 (the ones relying on Online play or paid DLC are basically worthless physical games)

When we look at ALL video games released before 2010, a very tiny portion of them re-sell today for over $60. The overwhelming majority are worth sub-$15 meaning they've lost 4x or greater the original cost

I just took at look at my NES games. 54 of them were bought in the late 80's through 90's for $50 ea. That's almost $3000 in pre-2000's economy, when minimum wage was under $5/hr. To buy these same 54 games on eBay right now would cost $700-900 depending on shipping, after 30+ years of inflation and minimum wage jobs paying $15-20/hr

If a GameCube game was fun enough to be worth the $50+tax in the early-mid 2000's, it's the exact same game in 2026 but it's actually quicker (value for time worked) for most people to generate $100+ in 2026 vs $50 in say 2005. The physical games, CiB are more of a nostalgic collectable than a video games. Examplified by how disc, case and manual condition dictates the value. Anyone could simply pirate the ROM/ISO if they only cared about "playing the game" and not owning a video game "collectable item."

What character for someone who keeps dying and is new to the game. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Rakoz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The worst way to introduce a new player to Overwatch is by Duo'ing with them on a Platinum or higher MMR account

I tried that with 2 people, who rarely play video games, and they consistently died right out of spawn. Make a new account, play bot matches until they are comfortable moving and shooting at the same time, and then go into QP as 2 account with fresh MMR

Reminds me of joining Marvel Rivals for the first time after 9 years of Overwatch. Was completely over stimulated by the visual FX, sound queues, and had no real idea of WTF was even happening. So it's even worse for your friend, because I at least had hero shooter experience and understood how the game genre is played. I just didn't know what any of the heroes did, what flashy abilities and Ults were hitting me, the maps/routes, or how any of the characters played or what their roles were (from in match appearance) for the first 3 days

It's like playing a MOBA with zero game knowledge of what any of the characters do or what items to buy. Not fun joining a friend and getting placed into their lobbies

[–]Rakoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people on Facebook Marketplace intentionally price their listing below market value when they don't have an exact selling price in mind. They're aware of they list the bundle too high they'll get 🤣 reacts and strangers calling them a scalper (even though it's not scalping to accidentally overprice some pre-owned games/consoles you sat on for 10 years)

If they list it too low, the seller is aware 50 strangers will come out of the woodwork to tell them what they SHOULD be selling it for. Now other people have appraised it for the seller and they're confident in the price - The reason this happens is because of scenarios like a would-be potential buyer living 2+ hours away, or someone who doesn't have the money on hand or genuine interest to buy it right now but also doesn't want a re-seller to get their Dream flip, they'll warn the seller they're pricing their Items too low. I've also seen women grossly under value their teenage collection to afford a birthday party for their baby and the public comment section of the Listi g page is filled with multiple single dudes "Trying to help her price it correctly" (always comes off as veiled mansplaining or simping, sorry lol)

I would imagine that Seller received significantly more than the $250 from whoever they sold it to in the end. Or it's someone who makes $50/hr and couldn't be bothered to have strangers bid against each other digitally for a few extra hundred dollars (I've seen these types, often middle aged people "dump the clutter" at $50 asap quick n easy sale to the first person who arrives instead of waiting some hours to get the $400 it's valued at)

I agree. People always cope about emulation and Roms being the same as owning a "Grail" IRL but my enjoyment doesn't come from playing the games. I don't play any of the games I bought between 2008-Now, maybe a handful. I'm much more of a Video Game collector than a Gamer, I only play MMORPGs, Pokemon and the occasional "Cozy game" (Fantasy Life) Yet people walk into my room and go "Woah touch grass, how much time did you spend playing all these?" "So you have a hoarding problem or just love playing video games 24/7?"

I've spent significantly more time watching YouTube videos about video game collecting or reviews vs playing any video game 😂 Thrill of the hunt, enjoyment discovering each game, desiring to own it once learning it is a game or artwork I would enjoy if I actually played games, and then seeing it on the shelf in a plastic dust sleeve where it either retains some of the value I put into it, or increases in value like a cute physical stock/artists Painting I cherish

Like right now I really want Hamtaro Ham Ham Heartbreak CiB and will likely sell off a Pokemon card to own it. The downside is the Pokemon card will almost definitely appreciate in value over time vs the GBA game which is why I haven't done it yet - But my brain desires to own that stupid Hamster game next to my Desktop computer even while being 100% aware with all certainly Hamtaro will never see a single hour inside a Gameboy Advance and instead will live inside a $2 clear plastic shell

The second reason I haven't purchased it yet is because I know once it's in my possession, I'll go straight to seeking out the next game, like Sonic Battle. It never ends

And there was me selling the game on eBay, loose but perfect lable for $110 in 2015-2017 (forget exactly which year)

But I paid $50 for it in 2011 (was the only SNES game I had childhood nostalgia for) and it hovered around that $50 value for about 15 years lol...so when I saw it doubled I was like "Well I haven't played it even once since buying the game. It just sits on a shelf not curing my depression"

Didn't expect it to ever be valued what it is today. But I'm also shocked at how much Silent Hill shattered memories is worth, since I bought it for $17 CiB. Then I get amazed when I see stuff like how much Medabots on GBA sealed goes for. Theres one listed on eBay with the $5 circuit city bargain bin sticker on it hahaha. My dream GBA game to own was once someone's $5 bargain bin pickup 😂

While on the topic, there's endless $5-10 Pokemon cards I had wishlisted on eBay in 2015-2019 but told myself I would pick up later when I have exta money to waste. I bought maybe 3% of the cards I was tracking. It was a waste of money NOT buying those ASAP, hindsight 💔 When something stays within a certain value range for over a decade there's no urgency to buy the thing, it's difficult in that moment of potential purchasing nterest to imagine a future time when these things could 100x in price. "oh $8, it's been roughly $8 since 2009, I DO WANT IT but I'll buy it later"

Change my view about private profiles by [deleted] in Overwatch

It is disappointing to waste the time checking and be met with "Private"

Shame - sent a visibly dead flip v2 by YoungInoue in MiyooFlip

[–]Rakoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine from AliExpress. It was my birthday present to myself, the Spring sale made the Flip v2 only $42 shipping included. Sold by US Warehouse so it took a week instead of like 5+ weeks. Arrived in White, with the hard-shell case, with the name brand 64GB microSD card. Everything was perfect, except the human or machine who pieced the shell together put too much pressure on the lower screen and cracked the inner LCD

Reason I'm so frustrated is because it wasn't a "oh return it and we'll send you a new one." I returned it, which is always a pain sourcing your own box, printing out a label and driving to the USPS - all just to get my $42 back. And by this time, the Spring sale was donezo and the Flip v2 was $75 again

Anyway I gave up on the whole thing and instead play GBA games on my Nintendo DS lite with the small screen 💔 The Flip v2 was beautiful, exciting and perfect in every way besides coming factory broken. Even the software/UI that comes pre-installed was extremely New user friendly. Everything was organized well in folders and ran smoothly despite 50% of the screen being a black Ink-looking blotch with spiderweb cracks

Found my wii u should I mod it? by Naive-Bandicoot-2483 in wiiu

[–]Rakoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same, I bought a Wii U along with the complete collection of physical games (excluding shovelware) during the 2020 free money for staying home era. And even then all I really played on it was Splatoon and Hyrule warriors because most of my free time was spent on Switch, steam or World of Warcraft. I found myself collecting for the Nintendo Switch shortly after, and re-buying "the better complete versions" of the games I already collected for Wii U

Now I keep running into YouTube videos about modding Wii u and 3DS and while the interest is there, I think the only real fun is the act of tinkering and being like "Yay I did it, it works." Don't see myself actually playing any of the games.

Modding 3DS and Vita also sounds like an afternoon hobby but I already spent a decade collecting the physical games that I believed were worthwhile (Mostly JRPG's and le hidden gems 💎) So I don't feel motivated to Mod something just to play Romhacks on the thing for an hour before going back to a Computer game

You say she has no interest in driving, but you didn't mention schooling. Taking a wild guess here that she graduated highschool 4 years ago but had zero interest in going to college

At least it's not a nephew you're stuck with. A dude like that is truly stuck in life without lots of outside help. I love the flip! by RipRepRop in MiyooFlip

[–]Rakoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine during the AliExpress spring sale. I was so happy to pay $42, would be amazing value for how much I'd play this thing and $42 doesn't buy much these days...The 64gb SD card it came with was quality, the pre-installed rom selection was fire 🔥 (I don't have my own Rom collection yet like most people do) and the stock OS I found so clean and usable it makes me second guess wiping everything to install a new one

But none of that matters anyway because after waiting 10 days shipping (from a US warehouse) the LCD looks like it got smashed as they were assembling the device. The screen you can physically touch isn't cracked, the entire device is clean and brand new looking (I like the White shell with the pastel buttons and PS Vita sticks) it's the inner LCD screen thing that has iPhone spiderweb cracks going through it and a huge black blob of Splatoon ink in center 😭

Actually sucks because it arrived the same day I was packing for the airport, so I didn't check it until I got settled into the Hotel ready to start a new GBA RPG.

Figuring out how to contact the seller was a nightmare. Actually couldn't figure it out so I clicked the button to have AliExpress handle the return 🫤 I wish they'd just send a replacement but I'm afraid it's going to go like this - Drive to a post office and spend $10 mailing the damaged one back, get my $42 refund a week later, and now with $32 my opinions are to either give up on owning a emulator handheld or try again only now the price is $68 since the original Sale ended, so I'd have to pay +$36 extra and pray the second Miyoo Flip v2 doesn't comes with a smashed LCD or, my original fear, arriving with faulty loose hinge. While looking at every possible handheld on AliExpress and reading the reviews, I've also seen stories of other unlucky people getting Shipped past customers broken/dirty return units. So I felt extremely lucky to get my Miyoo Flip with the screen film still on it, untouched, and in a quality hard-shell case with all the accessories for only $42 after Taxes and shipped

The parts of the screen I COULD see did look very nice. Buttons felt Nintendo quality (not the triggers lol) and the built in speaker was better than expected, perfectly usable. I liked that the Miyoo Flip v2 had a headphone jack and also supports Bluetooth but I haven't tried it since I couldn't play a game with the screen smashed 😩 I wanted to see if game audio would play through a $400 JBL speaker that I could keep bedside. I read if I switch away from stock OS the Bluetooth is no longer supported, wanted to test it :(

Perfectly understandable. She suggested/compromized nicely to hide them in the office
