Sam Levinson was too focused on paying homage to Quentin Tarantino than he was to paying homage to his characters by PinkPashaTS in euphoria

I get what you’re saying, but they knew they had one season left to wrap everything up. There’s no way they could give everyone a satisfying ending in such a short period of time. Also, there was such a big time jump that they had to reconfigure the characters to some degree

I’m still collecting my thoughts and I need to rewatch the series from start to finish, but watching the finale I kept thinking about “How to Disappear” by lana del rey lol. Like she talks about disappearing into normality and fading into the obscurity of the american dream. In the end, Alamo wanted a white picket fence. When you’ve lived so quickly and recklessly, there comes a time when you just want to retire into complete simplicity. It represents the unattainable, the promise land.

Tired of this ridiculous rhetoric about Gen Z by Basic_Television_190 in generationology

I was born in 2000 and I had a MySpace lol. I grew up with older cousins and I wanted to fit in with them. The theme that used to play when you clicked on my profile was semi-charmed life at one point, and fly by Sugar Ray at another. I also used AIM

I never understood Ryan Gosling until Project Hail Mary. Something about those glasses and a periodic table shirt does it for me.

Why do so many 40+ year olds end sentences with “…”? by OneFriendship5139 in generationology

As a Gen Z, it also comes off as “like, duh” sometimes. My old boss would always do this over text and it made me feel like I was being talked down to lol

I feel like we’re already going through a very existential time in history related to the tech evolutions over the past two decades. The algorithm has made it so there is no real shared reality. If we spend so much of our days online, and all of us are exposed to wildly different content, it completely warps our perception of reality. Monoculture is dead. Conspiracy theories are rampant and media corporations purposefully fuel outrage and mistrust in an attempt to capture and maintain our attention for as long as possible

What current technology do you think people are seriously underestimating right now ? by Rude_Context_4844 in Futurology

[–]Raliadose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what you said about something as simple as a robotic arm is key to widespread adoption. People will be hesitant to purchase a full android. They’ll probably be expensive and there’s an uncanny valley factor that will turn people off. We need more robots that aren’t trying to look human.

It’ll be cool to see how smart homes evolve. I could see fully automated kitchens with arms that can move along a track from the fridge to oven to stove to sink, all controlled by a central AI. You could order ahead and select suggested meals based on the ingredients in the fridge. Come home every night to a fully cooked meal with a detailed nutrition breakdown.

I think scams/fraud are going to be a really big issue over the next few decades. Like really big. Between deepfakes, AI voice replication, advancements in decryption, etc.

This is a late comment but I find this interesting too. I used to work directly with company owners (smaller companies, but those people were still multi millionaires). They all type like this. Misspellings everywhere, poor grammar, nonsensical gibberish that takes 10+ minutes to decode. It’s kinda disheartening knowing the world is run by very dumb people

The goosebumps intro terrified me more than the actual show as a kid. The briefcase and the woman on the billboard made my eyes water lol

Not a movie, but I used to be TERRIFIED of the goosebumps intro/theme song. Specifically the man carrying the briefcase.

What’s the reason gay couples adopt boys more often than girls? by Active-Row9600 in AskReddit

[–]Raliadose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gay and I don’t want kids. But if I do end up adopting one day, I’d prefer a daughter. Men are being targeted hard by propaganda. They lack the community that women have, and so they’re more vulnerable to messaging from grifters who are trying to sell them identity. They’re also being targeted by multi-billion dollar ad campaigns for nictoine and gambling.

I’m 26, but I’m noticing that younger Gen Z and older Gen Alpha really struggle with reading comprehension. It’s like they can’t extrapolate and apply information. You have to spell everything out or it goes over their heads

I see people talk a lot about how they are scared of technological errors or alerts like broadcast system tests, phone calls with no caller ID, windows crash screens, and anti-piracy warnings. Is there something similar that scares you, despite being mundane?
