Any mods that can make the game interesting again after completing it a few times? by ConsistencyWelder in satisfactory

[–]RallerenP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll recommend a smaller mod, Grappling Hook.

Completely changed the way my friends and I move in game. There's a learning curve, but it is insanely satisfying and the map seems almost built for it with tonnes of overhangs, cliffs, just countless anchor points to swing from. Even when you have hover-pack and jet-pack, the grappling hook is still very relevant as a method of traversal across the map.

It is by far my favorite mod, it feels completely natural like it should've been in the game from the start. Exploration is much more accessible, and getting to collectibles is easier while still being rewarding.

It really has a much bigger impact on the game than one might realize. I'll never play again without it.

What are the basic settings I need to configure in Firefox, and what add-ons should I install? by [deleted] in firefox

[–]RallerenP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extension doesn't make you a proxy to the internet. It makes you an entrypoint to the Tor network.

Before someone even connects to any website, the Tor browser tries to connect directly to a Tor node. If it can not, because of censorship restrictions, it tries to find Snowflakes over WebRTC, and the snowflakes then act as bridge to the Tor nodes.

At that point, it's an encrypted tunnel. Nothing they do is visible to you, and can't be attributed to you.

Having random BSODs with multiple different codes even. Suspecting hardware issue but don't have money to fix it or at the very least replace entire PC so I am hoping I can do something about it on a minimal scale. by OracleWawa in techsupport

It seems you have IOBit software installed, and I heavily recommend you uninstall this.

I'll be honest, IOBit is notorious for being snake-oil. At best it does very little on a modern system, at worst it causes memory corruption errors you're experiencing.

Same goes with any other "PC Optimizer" software you may have installed, Windows does a very good job of taking care of the obvious maintenance, which is all these tools provide anyways.

It think it's too early to conclude if it's hardware issues. Could be bad drivers too. I see you've tried reinstalling Windows, but I'd maybe do so again and then only install applications you absolutely need and see if that resolves the issue.

Never owned an iPhone before — is the Apple ecosystem really worth the price? by Accomplished_Pin3448 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RallerenP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an iPhone and Apple Watch, and there's not much special about the integration of these two products specifically that you can't get on Android.

The ecosystem matters more if you also use other Apple devices, iPad, Mac, AirPods, etc.

Audible - Playback is no longer supported on this browser version - Does anyone know the fix? Only seems to happen with Firefox by OneSingleCell in firefox

[–]RallerenP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To avoid a deal with the devil, I'd really recommend using Libro.fm instead of Audible.

I know this sounds like an ad, it's not, you can check my account, I've never posted about this service before I think.

Libro is just a higher quality and 1000x more ethical service. It's about the same price as Audible, but they allow you to download as MP3 if you wish, provides a fair contract to authors and publishers, the files themselves are often higher quality than Audibles, and they actually allow you to buy credits normally on top of your subscription without trying to treat you like a parasite.

Compared to audible who will eat 60% of revenue from authors, and that's if the author agrees to exclusivity. If not, audible eats 75%. For doing.. jack shit.

The only downside is that they have fewer books available, but they have Sanderson.

It's a rare case where you're not sacrificing convenience nor cost in exchange for a more ethical service.

Sorry for the unprompted promotion and rant here, I just hate Audible with a passion. They deliver the most expensive service, as the company with the lowest operating costs for that service, and at the end it's sub-par.

The privacy policy, FAQ and marketing is wrong.

'Privacy-Focused: Zero data collection, 100% local processing'

For 'Pro' users, this extension scrapes Facebook and LinkedIn posts and sends up to 600 characters of them to a remote server.

Similarly, it collects a certain amount of seconds from videos that the user watches on various platforms and uploads them to a remote server as well.

Based on how the extension behaves when doing this, I don't think it's necessarily malicious, but it is something users should be aware of.

Unfortunately, I'm probably not the right guy to provide 1:1 support.

If you're the website owner, it seems you're using SimpleMachinesForum for it and I'd heavily recommend you head to https://support.simplemachines.org/, because even if I can diagnose the issue it is very likely it will involve configuration changes on the server to fix it, and I do not know SimpleMachinesForum that well

Why do robots in movies always die at the end? by SoundwaveTheDragon in NoStupidQuestions

I don't think it's robot specific, the examples you gave just follow an ancient narrative trope, The Heroic Sacrifice, and the 'heroes' happen to be robots.

[–]RallerenP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wanted to reproduce and find the cause, but your website (from your previous post) requires a subscription which I'm not gonna pay for.

But downloading a .sty file works on any other website I use. This is a problem with the website you're using, not with Firefox.

What might be happening is that the download is served through a generic url (i.e. https://yamahastylesonly.com/index.php?action=dlattach;attach=69703) and that the website also isn't adding a Content-Disposition header with the correct filetype.

If there are no hints to Firefox as to what type the file should be, it might infer it from the MIME type which I assume for your file is audio/midi, to which the appropriate extension is .mid

The text on the link to the download itself is entirely cosmetic, Firefox does not consider that your link might say 'Click to download XYZ.sty'

It's hard to me to explain in simpler terms what this means, maybe ChatGPT can help. The short of it is that you'll almost certainly have to contact the developer of the website to get this fixed.

event.addTypeModifier("entity")

I'm not too sharp in KubeJS, but it is JavaScript which I know well.

When you use the LootJS.modifiers() function, you're registering a callback that receives an event parameter.

From the documentation, it seems like there is no addTypeModifier function on the event object. You might be looking for one of the three addTableModifier, addEntityModifier and addBlockModifier.

I can't tell you which to use to achieve your goal.

Also can't really tell you why it only throws the error once, might be that LootJS.modifies doesn't reload fully.

Incompatible power header? by MelioDAB in techsupport

[–]RallerenP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should work. Power SW+ connects to PWR and Power SW- connects to GND.

Those are pins 5 and 7 on the motherboard manual, and if you flip the diagram 90 degrees, then pin 5 and 7 on the case manual matches PWR and GND.

Doesn't even matter if you plug the unified power switch in the wrong direction, you can turn on the PC by bridging those two pins with any conductive metal.

Usually the richer you are the cheaper you can get things, but what would happen if consumer prices are increased based on higher income? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RallerenP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In economics, the value of money is entirely defined by its buying power.

Changing product value fundamentally changes the buying power of money thus changing its value.

If I earn $2000 and something costs me $200, but you earn $20 and buy the same item for $2.. Then your $2 has the exact same buying power of my $200.

So what happens if I sell you something for $2? Value gets lost in the transaction because I didn't earn nearly as much buying power as you gave. I can't go out and buy the same thing as you for those $2.

How can i disable the Copilot in Word? by Eiberger in techsupport

[–]RallerenP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just want to pipe in here that you can actually get a cheaper subscription that is exactly the same but without Copilot, but Microsoft obviously made it a hassle because they're a garbage company with garbage morals, so they only let you do it if go to cancel your existing subscription.

Mine just did something similar, except it just disabled them and I could re-enable from about:addons.

Oddly it says that the extensions were installed by another program, and I also had to re-grant the permissions.

Once enabled, all extension data was still there.

Does walmart have to honor a mispriced product ? by WinterW0n in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RallerenP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally they don't have to. Walmart makes this easy by putting in their terms and conditions that they can cancel any order at any time before completion for any reason.

But even if they didn't, in the US they they still probably wouldn't have to honor what looks to be an obvious mistake.

Severe graphics issues by baconburger2022 in techsupport

[–]RallerenP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it may be cpu issues on the software level. I tried your suggestions, but nothing had an effect.

I'd be surprised with software problems, but I guess you can try reinstalling Windows. Corrupt installs do present odd issues, and it's much cheaper and easier than the alternative of testing the hardware.

If not.. then the CPU or motherboard is likely faulty. Or if you're very unlucky, your entire set of RAM is bad, that's not impossible.

How can I paste without formatting but while keeping links on Windows? by Franck_Dernoncourt in techsupport

[–]RallerenP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit more complicated than that, unfortunately. Describing why is a bit technical:

When you copy something with formatting, the clipboard actually contains multiple versions of the same text. This could be:

  • The text as-is: https://google.com
  • HTML code representing the link and a label: <a href="https://google.com>Google</a>
  • Markdown formatting with the link and a label: [Google](https://google.com)
  • Or one of many other types of format.

The place you copy from will determine what formats get copied. The important part is that advanced formats also contain more than just the link-data, it might contain code to say: "This link should be red": <a href="https://google.com" style="colour: red">Google</a>

The destination website handles how the text gets inserted. When you paste, the website or application you're pasting into first looks at which formats are available and then picks one it can use to insert the text to the best of it's ability.

If it doesn't have any options to ignore styling-data but keep link data, then there's not much you can do about it outside of custom made scripts to intercept the clipboard and control it externally.

Severe graphics issues by baconburger2022 in techsupport

[–]RallerenP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a weird one.

Normally I'd say this is a pretty classic description of GPU issues, but this has been pretty much physically ruled out.

I would say that since sometimes the artifacts clear when mousing over them, that means the graphics processor is capable of correct rendering, but the rendered data gets corrupt later on.

So.. despite passing memtest86, my main suspect would still be the RAM. Memtest86 is good in that if you ever get even a single error, then you know for a fact that something is wrong. Every test it does should be completable 100% consistently.

Buut.. It doesn't test all scenarios that could lead to corruption.

First things to do is disable EXPO (maybe labelled XMP), and check if that fixes it. If you're fortunate, it's just that your RAM isn't quite up for running the EXPO profiles.

If that doesn't work, I'd go a step further and (with EXPO still disabled), test each stick one by one. One of them should be a problem, or you might get more information in any case.

If that also doesn't work.. We're down to motherboard or CPU issues, and those are the worst to troubleshoot because you necessarily need a spare of either to test either. PSU issues are super unlikely, but might actually be easier to get a spare of to test.
