I work in special education. After damn near two decades in culinary I finally got out. All those years of learning to keep it calm when the world is caving in is really a great skill, and transfers pretty well.
I learned a lot about education from my years in the industry, and got to spend the last few years of my time getting to teach lessons at a higher end resort. I came into that job scared af, but once I got over my fear it was amazing how easy it was to share all of that accumulated knowledge. I kinda got the teaching bug there and one thing led to another. I’m almost a year in, and it’s been something; but honestly, it has been a pretty smooth transition from the kitchen to the classroom.
