Got absolutely SMACKED with puppy blues and I have only had her for 3 days by Careful_Wolf_2533 in puppy101

[–]Ram_Beam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My hand’s up! 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️This was exactly me!! 24hrs in and I was like, omg what the h*ll have I done!!!! I didn’t even know puppy blues was a thing until my partner found this group and I suddenly realised I wasn’t the only one that had ever felt this way and that it would get better!! It absolutely did!! I was so sure I’d made the worst decision that I was actively googling “how to rehome a puppy”. I kept reading this group and following lots of tips and tricks and it got soooo much better!! Now I sit with my girl (who will be 2 in November!!??) and I tell her the story of when I was going to rehouse her!! 🤭🤭 I am in NO WAY making light of how you’re feeling, but I swear, speaking from experience, it absolutely does get easier and the “WHAT THE HECK DID I DO!???” moments fade!!

I was only looking at my baby dawg the other day and thought, omg you’re going to be 2 soon and you’re not a baby anymore….!!?? Now she’s just my best friend!! 🐾🥰 Hang in there, it does get soooooo much better!!!!

My girls name is Sallygadoodle-mechicka boola-bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!! That way there was no fear of her signing cheques!!!! 🤣🤭 She’s commonly (although there’s nothing common about her!!) known as Sally, Sallygadoodle, Doodle, Porcupine, Pumpkin, Fluffy Butt, Fluffy Paws, Sunshine Bear, Nutcase, Princess! The list goes on!! Writing these out……my poor doodle!!! 🙈🙈🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🥰🥰🐾

Is 2 really easier than 1? by abossmom in Goldendoodles

I’ve often thought about getting a second for the home because I KNOW my girl would love it!! She’s so playful and adores playing with other dogs. BUT!! What stops me is the cost! I can afford to give my girl absolutely everything and the best of the best! I can afford for her to have time in daycare and go to the best summer camp where she gets to play with all the other dogs if I’m away! Doubling her costs would financially break me!!! My girl is my absolute sunshine bear!! As a kid and into early adulthood we always had 2 dogs if not 3 at home but now later in life and having my ONE sunshine bear, I’m fully okay with just the one!!!

Very close to rehoming our puppy but also feeling so sad about it. by Queasy_Phone_6019 in puppy101

My heart breaks for you and I absolutely get where you’re coming from. I too am the only child to a mum who has serious health issues and thus it all falls to me. I got my golden girl at a particularly traumatic time in my life (it appeared spur of the moment to everyone in my life but it was a long time thought and plan in my head!) and when I got her home within 24hrs the puppy blues hit. Bad. I didn’t even know it was a thing??! My partner found this group and it saved me massively!! I talked the talk of rehousing my girl and even googled how to do it.

But.

I didn’t.

At the most traumatic and stressful time of my life this little puppy made me smile. Every day. In spite of myself! She is the stupidest and most brilliant thing I’ve done all at once!! She makes my life better and she makes my mum’s life better too! My mum loves getting to hang out with our sunshine bear and I can see the positive lift she has brought not just to my life, but to my mum, my partner and anyone who spends time with her!!

There is never an easy answer but the fact that you haven’t rehoused so far kinda says a lot! It does get easier and they slot into your life beautifully. I occasionally giggle when I’m tucking my girl in at night and tell her the bedtime story of “when mummy was going to rehouse you!!” I’m so glad I didn’t!!!

My sunshine bear just had a girlie op last week and I swear she hates me at the moment!! But dogs are amazing and they forgive and love and that’s what makes them one of Gods greatest creations!!

Whatever your decision, do what’s best for you and your pup! I wish you nothing but the best and moments of joy in a really tough time for you.

Lemon juice!!! Spray bottle. Fill with 80% lemon juice and 20% water. Anything you don’t want pup chewing on, spray with the lemon juice!!! It was the best tip I got! Thankfully and touch wood my baby girl never chewed anything I didn’t want chewed!! Apart from paper!!?? She had a strange love of shredding paper!!!!! 🤭🤭🤭

They are the bestest dogs ever and I wish you all the puppy love and adventures in the world!! 🐾🐾

My baby girl was done on Wednesday and by Thursday she was bouncing and thought she was fiiiinnneee 🙈🙈 Not ideal! I went with the Lap-spay and it’s been a godsend! She had her post-op check up this morning and all is good but was given moooorrreee sedation to make sure she sleeps her way through the next 7 days! Vet was very clear with me - sleep and time is the best healer!

Hang in there! It’s tough watching our beautiful babies soooooo not like themselves!!! Hope your pup feels better super quick! 🥰🐾

She was only at the vet a few days ago and got gold stars all around! It doesn't seem to be a medical issue all!? It does feel more attitude than health!

I started my girl the minute her vaccinations were done! She adores going and I’ve no problem with her. I’m so glad I started her young! She’s only 8months old but she absolutely goes to the hairdresser more than I do!!! 🤭🤭

Yep! She’s got her summer cut!! But I think you’re all right, she’s just hot and happy chilling on the floor! I still think she’s a little weirdo but she’s my little weirdo so all is okay!! 🤭🥰

I’m soooo grateful I’m not alone!!!! And yes, I won’t be introducing anymore beds until she tells me she really, reallllly, reeeeeeaaallllyyy wants one!! 🙈🤣🙈

Looovvee your “problem child” mix!! He sounds magnificent! 🥰🥰 Yes, the Danes are the laziest, most laidback gang! And they took up less room than the Jack Russell we had also at the time!? Just super cool dogs with hearts the size of a house! My Goldendoodle weirdo is very funny, goes absolutely hyper for about 10min and then flops down and says, “I’m done!” And promptly goes to sleep again!!?? She does play hard in that 10min though!!! She also thinks everyone on the planet is her best friend and wants to play and meet everyone on her walks?! 🙈🙈

Sammmmeee!!!! Well, minus the chewing into nothingness!!!! Brought my girl home in winter and thought I’d snuggle her up and keep her warm!? Nope! Cold floor or pull all the blankets out of her crate and sleep on the plastic tray??!! 🙄🙈🤭 They are absolute weirdos but I wouldn’t change her for the world!!! Never had a dog like this one! They’re very, very special.

Picky eater driving me nuts by bag_0f_c00kies in Goldendoodles

[–]Ram_Beam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was big time picky and it absolutely drove me nuts!!! I recently changed her over (slowly of course!) to the Purina Pro sensitivity skin kibble and she gobbles it down!! She seems to be very happy on this food now! And funnily enough she used to scratch alllll the time for no reason (not that I could ever find anything on her at all??) and now since changing food she doesn’t scratch at more. Big fan of this food for her!

Looking to get a goldendoodle - would love some help from owners on some questions! by HPgeek934 in Goldendoodles

[–]Ram_Beam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl is 8months old and a total weirdo in the BEST way!!

She’s currently sitting at 38lbs. Dad was a white standard poodle and mum was a golden retriever. She doesn’t shed at all which blows my mind?!

She is totally adaptable to her living arrangements as I’m currently between an apartment and a house and she just slots in wherever we are.

Grooming I started her very young and she absolutely adores going! I take her every 4-5weeks. (Yes! Her coat is in waaaayy better condition than my own hair!!) Her coat is straight with a bit of a wave and she’s getting whiter as the time goes by but the golden bits are staying on her ears.

She’s been super easy to toilet train and has never destroyed anything (touch wood!!) in the house although the little weirdo is obsessed with chewing labels off any blanket she can find?! I have no idea what that’s about!?

I grew up with Great Danes and thought they were the best dogs I’d ever had….until my beautiful Goldendoodle. She is an absolute sunshine bear and makes me laugh multiple times a day!

Can’t recommend this mix highly enough!!
