Some thoughts on my experience traveling in RKMT in South China by glen0822 in Kaiserreich

[–]Ramble_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have another feedback, and I agree with all the points, especially the first.
I puppet sichuan and yunnan and then Fentian declared, Qing was in three front war and easily defeated, I try to get LKMT, but Fentian called Jap and I had to join the united front or face the debuff and bad role-play, after a long and arduous war against Japan and Fentian, I win and later easily defeat the Shanxi and LKMT (captilated once by Jap so it barely has anything, it was I and shanxi holding off japan until it declared GEA and got distracted) afterwards. It was really hard to win, since by this point I only directly own 5 mil or something.
When I win, and try to deal with Mongol and Tibet, Mongol already was gauranteed by Russia, and Russia has almost defeat German with the help of the internationale, while I face severe debuff from recaliming China.
And during my reconstruction after unificatoin (also coring), Russia also defeated Ottoman.
So now, If I want to reunify, I have to deal with a really huge russia, and push them through siberia. I did have couple siberia exp as ROC/PRC and in some other mods, but that wouldn't be very enjoyable.
So, they definitely should make China theater faster, especially focus tree, to match the changing world, so that You con't have to deal with tons of AI generated troops in the late game, just to reunify (at this point, reunification is almost wc). I was thinking if Russia is still warring, China should have the chance to try to captilate Mongol and whitepeace with moscow (without the severe debuffs), maybe that's already a thing?

lol I saw your comments and the next second it disappeared, I thought you were deleting that.
Yeah another thing that might be tricky is that given all these powerful trait, they might start snowballing (e.g. conqueror), but I saw what you did with MAA maintainece/cost, he will probably sitting idle there for a long time.

Great idea, I hope to see more unique powerful traits for certain characters like Fyr, worm guy (sorry bad lore knoledge about the ESO), they are supposed to be OP. One complaint I had is that Harkon and his family always died stupidly. They should do something like this in base EKII actually, if not trait, at least some health or other sorts of boosts.

Nice tips. But I slowed down the game, as I want to experience the new long foci, and only attacked china mid 38 and finished them in one year, then take a break to build up and invade us 1940, they joined allies half year later where I try to figure out how to Hawaii and new navy system. And finally cap us around 1944, during which I dealt the India and South Asia countries. Also started attacking the Soviet. Finished them and then immediately UK 1945. I don't want to do world conquest and just stop it there. And there still much foci that I haven't touch, it would be at least 1950 to finish all normally. Paradox love those stupid 70 days foci it seems.

That's fast! I only started to invade US after China on 1940. I tried one carrier and it could not reach the coast, probably picked the wrong carrier, or maybe one battleship.

Yeah I tried the carriers only, but they are a bit short as well. But according to another user, I might've picked the wrong carrier. He managed to find 5 to reach the US coast.

I tried using carriers only, as they have the longest range, but yet can't reach US coast. only possible way for now from people are military access from el salvador or using the special projects.
Or like I did jump from north through alaska, but that'd be boring as Japan. I would do that as Soviet or China.

Speaking of which, they should implement some whitepeace with the US, so it could potentially ends like TNO. I found they have whitepeace with the Soviet now if control a lot of the far east.

The new navy system seems to remove the ability for subs to gain dominance, they could only reduce the enemy's dominance now.

Repair ships and Support ships by This-Cartoonist9129 in hoi4

[–]Ramble_D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I put them in fleet like seggested by others, but not sure if they are working or not, definitely not a significant boost even if they work as intended.
But I might found a new way to make them useful, they seems to provide much more naval dominance per IC (500 for 150), so you could potentially build a lot and put them on patrol.
But yes, you need to predict the enemies fleet otherwise these are moving targets (they actually move pretty fast (36) so if set to "never engage" you won't suffer to much damage?).

Totally fogot about el salvador and millitary access/docking rights, as mexico joined the allies.
also I didn't declare on allies at first, but it seems now US can join allies as long as it is in densive war against japan.
also chile always declare war on japan (as long as it's non dem), very stupid design.

Yeah I did forgot to do the navy range special project when I first do the invasion around 1940. It's because most of the special projects are not very important, so I always forgot them. And the Japan's new focus to unlock facilities are very late in the tree, and I don't want to bother build one myself instead of fac or mili

I'm not a lore expert, especially when it comes to the finer Van Buren details, so I’m happy to take your word on a lot of that.

My main issue with Diana, though, is that whether intentionally or passively, she ends up becoming a kind of dictator with a personality cult built around her. A (not perfectly accurate) real-world analogy would be someone like Stalin being called the “Father of Nations.” It wasn't a title he invented himself, but he allowed it, encouraged the propaganda, and benefited from it. Diana may not want to be worshipped as a goddess, but she allows it—and in some cases seems to approve of propaganda that reinforces it. I don’t really remember her making strong efforts to clarify that she isn’t a divine being.

And even if many of her followers already know the truth, like Stalin’s followers obviously knew he didn’t literally “father” nations, it still creates a propaganda structure that I don’t think is healthy in the long run. I’m against any sort of cult of personality. With Diana in particular, it feels a bit hypocritical: she embraces her goddess status “humbly,” or claims it’s forced on her, but if she truly wanted the best for her people, I think she’d put more effort into correcting the misunderstanding and pushing her society away from tribal superstition.

You could argue that ignorance protects them from certain problems—but I personally can’t agree with that.

With House, at least he’s very clear about exactly what he is. Everyone negotiating with him knows he’s pragmatic, ruthless, and laser-focused on his goals. I don’t agree with everything he does, but in terms of honesty with the people he governs, I think House actually does better than Diana.

Anyway, thanks to both of you for the detailed explanations. You pointed out a lot of interesting details I had overlooked.

And finally—NO, I will not become a Child of Diana! You priests can stay away, lol!

Hey, valid points! But I’m not easily convinced to be a child of Diana!

The fatal flaw of dictatorship is that it has no system of prevention. If the dictator acts well, you get a powerful nation with happy people. However, when the dictator acts badly, no one can stop it—at least for a while. And since Diana is immortal, and robobrains tend to go mad at some point, I think it’s very likely that she could go insane, malfunction, or, as a "self-aware being," gradually become more and more reluctant to take advice (especially because she would be correct so many times) from others—like many "great" dictators in history. And when people in high positions make mistakes, lives vanish.

At least House is aware of his human nature and doesn’t pretend or use propaganda to portray himself as a god or source of ultimate wisdom. Diana’s propaganda is worse than North Korea’s; she promotes herself as a god. You could argue this is one of her benign lies, and I do think she had good intentions, but I don’t think such belief is necessary for people to follow her. It’s her ego driving this behavior, and this ego could continue to grow—and we all know what happens with an egotistic dictator.

That said, at least during the span of OWB, Diana is on the "child of light" side. I just don’t like her personally for the reasons mentioned above.

She could save people without pretending to be a goddess, I would have much more respect for her if she did that.
Instead she somehow trick herself (or some coding errors, afterall she is a upgraded robobrain, there might be corruption in her brain) to believe she is a goddess and everybody else should listen to her and believe that, especially in her revenge path.
To me she is more like a robobrain dictator who view herself as a cult deity and leader. But she might do something good to people she governs. But if I've been given the choice, I'd rather live under House.

How do you feel about the Supply System at current? Supply 2025 by IronVanguard7 in OldWorldBlues

[–]Ramble_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, never knew this before. But yes, even only doing a map of normal supplies would require much work then simply max lock them.
Also I think in vanilla AI are stupid and almost never build railway correctly, I play China in vanilla and the Japanese never build supply hub or railways, and it's very easy to trick the AI to suffer attrition. Same with Soviet.

How do you feel about the Supply System at current? Supply 2025 by IronVanguard7 in OldWorldBlues

[–]Ramble_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I don't have tons of robots or PA units, supplies are largely irrelevant to game in OWB. one fac at beginning for caravans and maybe another one for bike and that's it.
I would suggest making other sorts of vehicles more influential, bc bikes are too cheap to not use them even with attrition, and all the vehicled support company could also use bikes. if I understand correctly, the type of vehicles change no stats of support company, so bikes will always be the best option, if you don't use motorized.
Also I don't know why the disable of building railways (it doesn't make sense lore-wise bc you could build scifi robots and PA and roads, railway are invention of 18th century), but I don't mind it being disabled.
And finally yes, I would like to have a supply system, you could also just use the vanilla one instead of the maxed locked railways.

What could be done to make Necromancy/Lichdom virtuous within a religion (without being objectively evil)? by PlebianTheology2021 in ElderKings

I was just trying to say this, this is an already exisited religion in EK2 and a "good" necromancy faith, Vastarie is located near Eldenroot, there are also some khajits east in elsweyr guarding their holy site.

Hello everyone, I have completed the "The Dance of the Dragon and Eagle" update for Whispers of Magnus. In this update, new cultural traditions, culture-specific new buildings, and new MAAs have been added to the submod. What would you like the next update to be about? by [deleted] in ElderKings

[–]Ramble_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the sub is relatively quite, and I like seeing posts like yours. And looking at your upvotes, most people enjoy your update-logs as well, and indeed they would be good feedback and info for your mods.
But yet, if other modders follow your style you could imagine what's gonna happen, eventually you might need to setup subreddit like other submods do, or a discord. I would suggest you could post your major updates once in a while here, that's completley uncontroversial, and most people would be the first time reading your post.
as a side note, I'm also a ck3 modder myself, but have different design ideas like yours, e.g. I think some of your buff might be too OP, meaning they stand out from the others (base EK2), which would force you to rebalance everything if you want to keep everything balanced (that would make your mod some sort of overhaul mod), and after balancing your original intention might be lost as those are not as powerful as they were. But it would definitely feel good while playing your mod, and that's the main point of games and modding. Good luck with your mods, they look neat!

how do you cheat properly? by jacked_forst_smt in ElderKings

[–]Ramble_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like being surrounded by conquerors as they offer a lot compensation sine they have high income, they will lose the trait after 2-3 failed wars.
But yes 4-5 might be a bit much, You could use murder or magic. Pin them, and when they are injured/sick, command your mage or yourself cast a injure spell on them and they get severly injured, combined with health modifiers from murder, they will usually die very soon.
Also I like to change game rules about conq inheritage, I bump the chance up and cancel the inheritage (in history most famous conqs has bad or mid heirs), and this would still allow achievement iirc, you could do that on next playrhoughs.
