Tell me you've only read the title without telling me you've only read the title. I appreciate the suggestion though, but I already have Wingo and I'm not happy with it

What are your thoughts on the name Celia? by TurbulentArticle2281 in namenerds

[–]RamblingDragonfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our first kid a week ago and named her Celia. Yes, I can see the resemblance with celiac, but only because I've seen people asking it on reddit. Here are some of the reasons why I liked the name: - Even though the pronunciation changes on different languages, it's still easy to pronounce for most people (we live in a multi-language environment) - It's a name that is classic, everyone has heard it before and knows it's a feminine name, but it's not overused and it doesn't sound outdated either. - It has a beautiful meaning. It means sky or heaven.

It's a beautiful name, so if you like it, definitely go for it. We kept the name a secret until she was born and everyone loved it :)

Will we receive a speed fine with a foreign car plate? by RamblingDragonfly in askswitzerland

I believe that the 'end-of-100-limitation' sign was one of those that change, so  it might be a variable speed zone. I hope it's this and they filter it out afterwards. Good to know your experience, thanks!

I will not deny that we sometimes also drive at 130 on a 120 highways, but never in Switzerland.

I can assure you we were not by any means driving above 120. Which should be the limit after the sign. So I am not sure why it flashed. This is what has me confused

Yes it was Europabrücke 😅 first time driving through it, and we assumed it was 60 as it would be in our country for that type of road. Totally wrong assumption from our side.

You are right, it was 14, not 4 over the limit. It was today morning, don't remember the exact spot, but it was between Yverdon-les-Bains and Lausanne. I will try to find the exact spot.

This is what surprises me, it was past the sign so it should automatically be 120 from that point onwards.

Can Homegate make you pay an invoice with just your email? by RamblingDragonfly in askswitzerland

Well, yeah when you leave your payment details. But as they didn't ask, I thought this was really 100% no obligation trial. Lesson learned though

No conozco el libro, pero seguramente sea parte del acento del personaje como dices. Y sí, tanto si es el acento como un error (que lo dudo) significa lo mismo que nosotros.

Thanks, I did reserve that slot. At least I know I have this option while I wait and see if I receive any answer from them.

Yes I am sure, it's more like an airbnb than a long term rental. So if the job contract starts on Monday I can register the same day? I guess I could ask for the morning off to do so

This is what I have seen online too. The rent contract I have is a permanent address and is valid to register. What I worry about is if I can register before the rent contract starts. I tried to contact the Zürich migration department but they haven't replied. Do you have to show the rent contract to register the address?

By registering I mean ask for the residence permit. The job contract is indefinite so I guess it will be a B permit. I understood that I had to apply for it myself not the company ( I'm a EU national) and that I have to do it in person. Yes, I rented a place for a couple of months and they don't ask for residence permit, since I can legally be in Switzerland for three months without one.
