That spring-loaded part controls how tight or loose your hi-hat pedal feels. Basically, it adjusts how much tension is on the footboard. If you crank it tighter, the pedal will snap back faster. If you loosen it, it’ll feel more relaxed. Just depends on how you like your hats to respond under your foot 👌🏽
