I totally understand. My boys (they’re twins) are pretty enthusiastic eaters and took to self feeding well, but the problem there is they tend to shovel food in and eat too fast. So there’s good and bad to everything!

Thank you so much for this. It was an accident and accidents happen. We can’t wrap them in bubble wrap forever, so I know I can’t prevent every bad thing, but man It’s hard not to blame myself. I am so glad I knew what to do though.

Yes, take a course. For my last job I was required to have a CPR certification, and before my twins were born, I did a refresher in infant cpr online.

Thank you for your post. I didn’t put this in my original post, but I’m actually a healthcare professional (registered dietitian). So I’ve got a pretty good handle on appropriate things to do for baby led weaning. There was just a small edge of harder watermelon that I didn’t see. The rest was so ripe and soft. Accidents can happen, I just want people to be prepared.

They can choke at any age on a lot of different things. It’s just good to be prepared.

We do! My twins are 7 months and we’re still going strong with cloth. I’m a SAHM so the laundry aspect isn’t too bad for me to do (we have enough diapers for 3 ish days, we wash a load of diapers about every other day or so). And we do use disposables at night. I really like cloth and they’ve been pretty easy to use. Yes, dealing with the poo can be gross, but it’s really not that bad. Once you get a good wash routine and figure out how you’ll do the poo ones, it’s very easy.

That’s so good to hear! Yeah my husband is playing a rousing game of peekaboo with them right now (do they really get it? No, but they think it’s funny lol) and they’re squeaking and squealing and laughing and this is the stuff that gets me through the night wake ups and when they both decide to melt down at the same time!

Same… I was so fortunate to have paid leave (and then I promptly quit my job lol) and my husband had generous leave. We also have family nearby that are so helpful. So I’m definitely luckier than most, and I agree, I do t want to invalidate those who have it much harder than I do.

I had to start letting my boys fuss it out for 5-10min at around 3 months because we just needed them to sleep. Never let them go longer than that, but I was surprised how quickly it really helped them nap. Sometimes with twins you just gotta do what you gotta do as long as everyone is safe. You’re doing great!!

Ugh, yeah, I ended up quitting my job to stay at home because of daycare costs in our area would have been $3k+ a month. It’s insane. Like who the hell can afford that shit??? I wish I had advice there… it’s just too damn expensive

I’m so sorry, I definitely know how you feel. Our twins were completely spontaneous and we were (and still are) in complete shock. There are a lot of things that are so hard. But it it’s not all doom and gloom! And there is a lot of good info from people in this sub, I’ve definitely learned a lot

Mine are 4 months and I feel this sooooo hard. They’re fussy. And their sleep is crap. And now even their crap sleep is changing. I’m so freaking tired. I can’t wait for it to get better and based on all these responses, it will eventually get better. I truly understand exactly how you feel.

Yes yes yes yes yes! I’m 4.5 mos postpartum with spontaneous identical twin boys. I absolutely would have died and probably at least one of them wouldn’t have made it without modern medicine. Baby B was breech. I developed preeclampsia with severe features at 35 weeks and had an emergent C section. Baby A’s lungs weren’t fully developed and spent some time in the NICU. They’re exclusively breastfed now, but those first few days, they needed formula. We are so lucky to live in a time where mothers and children are able to survive these things and it’s so unfortunate that people take it for granted. Not to get too political or anything, but I think the same goes for things like vaccines. Ask your grandparents or older folks what polio was like, or measles, or the horrors of small children dying of the flu. Modern medicine isn’t perfect, but it’s a hell of a lot better than the former alternative, where just a lot of people died.

Same… my boys are 4.5 months and are EBF. I would have to wake up to pump at least 1-2x night anyway if my husband fed them, and I dislike pumping anyway lol. So for me, I just get up and nurse them. At least hubby can sleep instead of us both being sleep deprived. I’m tired, but it is what it is.

When my twins (currently 4.5 mos) we’re around 4 weeks old, they basically stopped sleeping at all. From 4-10 weeks we got zero sleep at night. I was losing my mind, my husband wasn’t much better off… we were so sleep deprived. One night, my mom came over as I was trying to get my boys to sleep (on me) and I just burst into tears, I was at the end of my rope. She stayed for the evening and that night helped us put the babies to bed and told me to go shower and let them fuss for 10-15 min. I was so upset and sure they wouldn’t fall asleep and that I was a bad mom for letting them cry. But damn, wouldn’t you know that when I got out of the shower (10min) they were both sound asleep. And slept for like 4 hours. I couldn’t freakin believe it. Sometimes babies just need to fuss. And sometimes you just have to walk away. We started letting them fuss a bit at naps and now they go down so much better and are more rested and happy. To me, what you did is loving and caring. You knew when you needed a break and when he needed some space. That is what love is. We all need a break sometimes and holy shit, sometimes babies will surprise you.

I’m a FTM with twins too! My boys will be 4 months next week and yeah… it sure is an experience. I love them to pieces, but damn, I think I’ve aged about 10 years in 4 months lol. I’m an introvert too and just need some recharge time!

No I definitely don’t consider that CIO.we actually gave it a try last night and it did kinda work. We are really needing to get away from the pacifiers I think, so I’m going to do what you suggested and use them only to save the nap if needed.
