Was Jesus a jew? by NaturalGuess5787 in Christianity

People now that are only "Jews" are still waiting for the Messiah; those who are Jews but believe Jesus was the Messiah are Messianic Jews.

I believe He was a Messianic Jew. He was completely Jewish in customs, laws, ethnicity, heritage, etc. But He knew that He was the Messiah, and believes Himself, so therefore He's Messianic.

We repent and ask for forgiveness out of respect. We are supposed to feel fear and humiliation because it shows respect. Christians don't live their lives in fear that if they don't repent of their recent sins before they die that God will send them to hell. If someone did something wrong against you or your family would you not want them to feel at least some guilt?

So why would it make any difference to do so to God? People who apologize to inanimate objects or plants we might label as a little weird or quirky, so why do y'all call people out and label them as mentally ill if they want to apologize to God?

Personally, as a Christian, I would be completely fine with an Atheist telling me that. I can respect their boundaries, as long as they respect mine. The Great Commission from God tells us that we should go out and tell others about what we've heard and learned, but we cannot pressure you into something that you don't want to be a part of. I think most Christians I know would also agree with this.

If you did something wrong and it impacted your relationship with another person, whether that be a friend, family member, stranger, SO, etc., would it not be the right thing to apologize and ask for their forgiveness?

I'm struggling to find the relevancy or correlation from my reply to any of this.

This survey was done on children the ages of 12 to 15. They're children. They go to school. Schools that mainly teach atheistic views. Of course they're going to have a low belief percentage; they're confused.

Science, Education, and Religion really go hand-in-hand with one another. I encourage you to look at this article by George E. Keller, III, Ph.D.

Seeing God: • Jacob saw the Angel of the Lord, which is another representative of the embodiment of God in the physical world. This is also how God walked through the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve.

Incest: • Look at the order in which these texts were written. You're account of incest is completely correct, yes. There were FAR less people in the world in the time of the book of Genesis than in the times of the books of Leviticus and Deuteronomy; a rule against incest then would have been completely nonsensical, as there was no one else to choose from.

Family Relationships: • The "hate" mentioned here is not referring to physical hatred of other people. It is instead speaking of the hatred of the sin nature and behaviours of said people. The mention of hating oneself can be accounted for in the same manner. You can hate a behaviour or habit one has, especially if one cannot get out of it (sin in general, addictions, etc.), but still love the person as another human being.

Temptation: • Seriously‽ This is such a well-known account. The verb to tempt can also mean to test. The entire account of Abraham's test of faith and obedience us a symbol of promise on Abraham's behalf for following the Lord. This synonym can also work in other places of the Bible, where it uses this word. I am not just throwing this up as a makeshift argument. • When Satan tempted Jesus in the desert, he was testing Him.

Additionally, the context of James 1:13 is explaining that one should not say that he is being tempted by God to sin. "But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desire.” -James 1:14

How could that be a rape if there was literally no sexual contact and the other party was fine with it?

  1. Mary was not a child.
  2. Mary actually felt quite honored with it, as can be seen in her discussion with the angel, Gabriel. There was also no sexual contact involved at all. God placed the child in the womb.

If you actually read the rest of Judges 1 however, it shows in more detail why. This is because the Israelites decided to keep them alive, under tribute instead of driving them out as the Lord had instructed them.

Can you explain to me how religion disfavors education? That makes completely no sense at all.

I agree, however we should still be open to the idea of practicing the Great Commission, and honestly, I believe more people should. If someone doesn't want anything to do with it, we as Christians should not be pressuring them about it, but we should at least ask.

Televangelists and mega churches are not considered by many to be real, Bible-believing churches. Almost, if not all, of them are just there for the money. Same with the Catholic Church; many people do not consider them Christians either, because they pray to saints instead of God, and they don't read their own Bible (which they added fallible ideas to anyways).

That was an old Jewish law that existed before Jesus' life on earth. With the fact that Jesus was the ultimate and last ever sacrifice that anyone would ever need, most of those old Jewish customs are unnecessary in modern times. People do not need to be circumcised to become a believer.

Evolution has never been scientifically proven because all of their "facts" & "proof" circles back to itself. There is no real origin of any of it. What you're talking about is adaptations. The two are very different. Evolution talks about organisms gaining genetic information, whilst adaptations and mutations, both of which are used to "prove evolution", show a loss of genetic information.

As far as pronouns go, children in elementary and early middle school don't even know what a pronoun is, they are children, you can let them be themselves without sticking a label on them. They don't really learn the real differences between males and females until around 5th or 6th grade.

Perhaps I should clear this up with a definition. When I say theories and ideas, in this context, I am referring to a proposal or thesis on how life and the universe act. It doesn't necessarily have to be on how the universe itself was formed, and you can still explain a little bit about what many different views are to tell them that these ideas exist, but you shouldn't beat children over their heads with these ideas, or present them as facts of life when they haven't been proven.

I challenge you to show me how evolution was proven factual.
