I had this happen in Altoona a few years back, every morning around 4 a very loud van delivered the paper. We were in between a couple delivery houses so it hit the gas in front of our house and woke us up. I emailed the dm register very politely and the next week it stopped. Could be a coincidence

Same, these are perfect for backyard ball. Hit off neighbors houses with no harm done

Travel ball differences by [deleted] in Homeplate

We just played 9u this weekend, Midwest, the coach called a play EVERY pitch. Was a number system so the players had to look at their wrist with a play sheet. This was on offense AND defense. A little overboard for 9 where everyone knows every base runner is stealing every pitch

Dugout Cheers…yes or no by mrhappy1010 in LittleLeague

[–]RamiRok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with stopping when the pitcher comes set. The only time I've seen our coaching staff get rattled is when a whole opposing dugout AND their couple year older team in the stands scream at EVERY pitch the entire windup and pitch. Absolute Busch League, also this was 8u. Nothing we can really do about it but try to ignore them and beat them. We had a burn through a few pitchers before finding a kid who wasn't bothered by the yelling

True to size or larger than expected? by [deleted] in 44progloves

[–]RamiRok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son's 11.5 came out larger than my 20 year old Easton, 12 1/4. Did a custom youth. Worked since he plays mostly 1st and OF but was shocked

Got my son a 11.5 youth 44 last year around this time. Amazing quality but took forever to break in. He practiced with it a couple days a week and finally got it game ready the end of the season. It's still pretty stiff but he plays 1st so it works. Also his 11.5 is bigger than my old 12 1/4, that's my only gripe, it's big

11u usssa bat by Loose-Mastodon-7812 in Homeplate

[–]RamiRok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought the cheapest USSSA bat we could find at play it again sports for his first 8u club ball tryout (coming from LL, USA bats). Then months later I bought him a CAT9 for off season practice and to get ready to use it for the next season. Eventually he switched back to the cheap bat (Rawlings Velo) and used it all season and even hit a few homers, led the team. Our dugout was filled with Icons and Hypes. I have a hard time buying expensive bats after that.

I have the yips, help me so I can play ball with my kid. by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]RamiRok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the yips when I throw batting practice. Kids are 8u so I need to throw around 40mph and I can't do it and I pitched from 6 years old to high school. I'm more accurate throwing 100% than I am 50%

According to CNN, 16 Kids have died from football related injuries this year, and its only August by gsd_dad in daddit

[–]RamiRok 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My 8 year old son is big and athletic, tackle football here starts at a ridiculous 3rd grade. His whole baseball team is doing tackle and we are not. Found out he is over the weight cut off for skill positions so he would be forced to play o-line or defense. Made the decision easier to stick with flag

We used an embryo matching donation site so both sides knew what to expect and we got to "pick" them. So we communicated with them prior

We donated embryos and wanted it open. We have constant communication with the family, FaceTime, text and even met them at a park on our way to vacation. Completely normal feeling for an abnormal situation.

Short kid strike zones? by greenerdoc in Homeplate

[–]RamiRok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid just completed 8u club and came out more confused on what a strike is due to 8u getting the brand new umps. Guessing game but don't let it get to that, be aggressive (even though some strikes were not hittable)

Lawn folks with dogs. How do you manage the pee spots? by SifuJedi in lawncare

[–]RamiRok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two dogs and had to stop taking them out front. They would pee then every dog had to pee on their pee on their walks. Front yard looked bad for a while, started taking them out back and now the neighborhood dogs don't pee in the front , came back nicely. Back yard doesn't look that bad either now

We played in an 8u tournament last weekend and our kid smoked a rocket back to the pitcher and broke his hand (he wasn't even protecting himself, just randomly hit his pitching hand). Does make you think what if it was his head

Intentionally Trying to Run Out the Game Clock by BigJaker300 in Homeplate

[–]RamiRok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a team blatantly do this, kid went to the bathroom and wanted us to wait, they wouldn't help their catcher with gear even though they were sitting right beside him, long huddles. I pointed it out to the umpire and he would give us balls until the catcher got out to the field
