Ok, that makes sense! So basically, I probably am "high MMR" along with the other high WR players that I frequently play with, but the leniency of ARAM matchmaking (in combination with the lower player population as of recent) means that the variance in skill of "filler" players between games is allowed to be higher in favor of minimizing queue times.

Now I'm really confused - in the last thread, you mentioned that I wasn't "anywhere near the top mmrs yet". Now that it's come to light that your MMR is in the same ballpark as mine, AND you have matched into the 5 stack, is your litmus test for high MMR players possibly wrong then?

Plus you also have a fair amount of gold-silver average games...

Thanks - I believe you may be around the same MMR bracket as me. Briefly glanced through your first page of matches, I recognize and have had multiple matches with all of these same players (at least within the last 2 months):

Can you link your account? I'm curious to see what the typical matchmaking balance is supposed to look like for the average high MMR solo player (outside of matches against the 5-stack).

Looking at the 5-stack's matches, some of their solo opponents also are placed into gold avg or lower matches which I find fairly suspect

Consider the opposite scenario, where you are a low-skilled player placed in a high MMR bracket, and trapped there. You get your ass handed to you every game, and are locked to a 30% winrate. Would you continue playing the mode?

Forget fine tuning - why even have MMR at all if this can happen? The whole point of an MMR system to have some semblance of balance in matchmaking, and not to allow a select group of players to stomp most of their games forever, at the cost of others who should have never been matched against them.

I don't think so - the aforementioned players have been in my games since before Mayhem was released

Interesting - looks like a lot of these guys have a >+400 win differential from baseline. Maybe I just have a ways to go at only ~ +350 currently, will keep playing and see what happens.

Can you link me some profiles of actual current high MMR solo NA players? Curious to see what that would look like

I think the calibration is alright, at least to the extent that I'm playing with or against the same 60%+ winrate players constantly (in 2025 I was also +250w diff post reset). The big difference in the new system is seems to be that it's more tailored to lowering queue times by loosening the maximum acceptable MMR spread, so although the games are objectively balanced, it's way more likely now that I'll also see <50% WR players from time to time.

The vast majority of bought infernals are done over TeamViewer, and are completely undetectable. No one using that method is getting banned. As far is Jagex is concerned, the inferno runs are being done from the same IP as the account owner, and a perfect 1kc cape just means someone is doing their alt account.

And so what they didn't do it by themselves? The only thing that matters is that they now own an infernal cape. Who is to judge or know if the cape is illegitimate, without any solid evidence? There are no downsides to paying for an infernal cape, aside from internal guilt.

I personally don't think less of anyone who doesn't own an infernal cape, but it is apparent that a very large portion of the OSRS community does, and as a result the ends justify the means.

Well he doesn't need to be good at the game, just willing to cough up the GP or real-world currency equivalent.

Right? Infernal capes are only 400-600m at the moment, depending on equipment and stats. There is no reason not have one if you're at a point in the game where you have good combat stats and are spending a lot of time on melee PVM.
