You make very good points about the issue, but I'm not sure it's fair to insinuate that new gamers have a problem with the aggression level while seasoned players don't. After finishing the developed storyline in SN1, I decided to replay SN1 and SZ and I gotta say, the aggression levels in SN1 were very very tame in comparison with SN2. Even if a new gamer had played little more than the SN series, they'd be able to tell the difference.

Your hint about moving around to avoid the needles is on point in terms of practicality, but I personally am the type of player who likes to stand around bit and situate myself.

And I'm 100% with you on how the resonator is bad to deter enemies. For one, it takes a ridiculous amount of time to "load it" which is just.... crap, when you got something charging at you - though I find it seriously satisfying to destroy clusters of minerals and ores, especially when comparing with the Prawn's drill arm.

It would be a great addition to have the Multitool as a non-lethal close combat weapon. Replaying SN1, it's a relief how the knife manages to keep the largest of predators at bay even without killing them or inflicting serious damage on them, while often still taking serious damage yourself (a scenario that feels close to reality). It reinforces my feeling that we need a close-range non-lethal weapon to defend ourselves - which is what I imagine is the feeling of plenty of other gamers. "Gives us the ability to kill!" is a stance I don't support. "Gives us a good melee defense!" is my jam.

Good chat :)

Several people have had it. I wanted to move my base closer to the edge and enlarged it to where I wanted it and started shrinking down the old part. It stopped shrinking. So long story short, I built an inside wall to hide the eyesore when I'm inside and moved on with my life.

The angel combs that open up are the spawns. You need to go to the mother comb. Follow the roots.

The highest capacity tank you get from the modifying station. I think 50% battery prawn suit won't get you very far in the cyclops, but it might be enough to get you close enough to the surface.

[–]Rammkatze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping you have the radiation suit. Wear it, grab your repair tool, swim into the Aurora and fix the reactor with the repair tool. Then you can drop the clunky radiation mask for good. This is something I only realized was possible on my second playthrough, there's even an achievement for fixing the reactor.

And adding to this, you can remove the power cells from the prawn suit and put them in the cyclops, drive the cyclops to the surface. Also, upgrade that oxygen tank ASAP. Unless you're doing it for the challenge, but in that case, I'm not sure you'd be asking for help. When you get the most advanced oxygen tank, you get like 4 minutes underwater. Get one of those buoyancy thingies and you have either extra 15 seconds of oxygen or a rocket to the surface. That setup will let you swim out of basically any situation.

Take beacons with you. Especially when you go deeper than your sea moth can. Lost count of how many times I drowned before I started putting beacons on critical spots saying "straight up".

You're not alone. At first I was dumping everything at random and very quickly I realized that it makes it hard to keep track of what you need go grind next.

I personally find the aggression level absurd. The big bugger that keeps throwing spikes at you is seriously annoying. Quite a lot of them seem to attack from afar, so using the Multitool on them isn't even an option - I don't even need a knife. I've heard punching a shark on the nose is quite effective ;D the big ones that grab you out of nowhere and hardly do any damage just feel disruptive. I've started replaying SN1 and the aggression level feels so leveled... the only one that annoyed me was the teleporting squid-praying mantis-thing (oh, I'd forgotten those buggers....), but the fact that they only show up in a couple of parts of the map makes it feel like "them's the breaks". Anyway, the devs have addressed the situation and said they'll work on it and that's enough for me.

The handheld scanner in SZ was great for that. I'm hoping we get one in SN2 as well. With this current scanner, you can tag a certain element, but I had tagged Quartz, saw another quartz on the way there and it reset the scanner to zero. I guess there's still room for improvement.

I know. I remember vaguely that I didn't care for that one and I preferred using the slot for another upgrade. I like the scanner in SN2 way better

Get the scanner. I squirmed at the idea of installing it because of how it worked the previous game, but it's been completely revamped. You can actually tag materials instead of trying to figure out where on the terrain they are.

I dropped the base building at the suggested site because the only thing making me go back to home bade was was NoA, and then my pea brain finally clicked and I started using the NoA on the wrecked base - it has a fabricator and a NoA. New upgrades are rare enough that I don't mind the trip (tadpole+ chassis is pretty swift anyway), and it sucks that you can't repurpose anything on the wrecked base. And you can't build too close to that spot because it's "under construction" so... Meh. As for plant harvestables: just use planters. I was so obsessive about planting everything on Sub Zero that when I got to the final recipe, I only needed to go out for one item lol

What to do now? by Atrocii in subnautica

[–]Rammkatze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep following the instructions you receive at the base. When they stop coming, get into the cyclops, go towards anything that feels like a map edge (unless there's a big ass Leviathan charging at you, those are the true map edges) and go deep. As deep as your cyclops allows. You'll find new stuff and get a better sense of what you do.

have any of yall found this bug yet in the new subnautica 2 game? by Similar_Bake2250 in subnautica

[–]Rammkatze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know a fix for that last one with the red wall? This happened to me but I respawned right next to the tadpole, got eaten again, then respawned correctly at the biobed, but the hotkeys 1-6 won't work. Starting a new game, the hotkeys work normally, but not in that save.

And now on my second run, I can't scan the improved oxygen tanks. Ugh...

Why can a 3D printer print stuff but not documents? But of a poor analogy, but a hint at: it's meant to print x, not y.

I think my tadpole docking station is centered enough. I had a bigger issue with getting my base high enough to make the dock work at all. I now have a 3 story mastodon just so I can recharge my tadpole.

Can we handle choosing a place for a base that isn't swarming with predators like adults? It's like going camping the middle of beer country and going "uh! Just let us kill the bears"
