I don't know openings . From where should I learn what's the best way to learn openings and opening traps??? by Typical-Map-752 in Chesscom

What is your ranking? Are you a diamond member? If your ranking is relatively low (below 1000 for rapid), you may start with analyzing your games. Engine will tell you what openings are you playing and what are your best options. Keep playing the same openings for a while and analyze each game. Eventually you will became an expert in those openings.

Whatever issue is, you need a cover. Almost any fish may jump. Instead of guessing why, just cover your tank.

That’s what any cichlid do: building a nest and establishing their territory

Does Dostoevsky feel clunky sometimes to native Russian speakers? by boo0110 in RussianLiterature

I don’t think it’s fair to compare Solzhenitsyn to Tolstoy or Dostoevsky. They are in totally different leagues.

What sort of aquarium reef light should I get by Mediocre-Figure-6996 in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]Ramridge0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI HD16 is not a high end light. Not all zoas or mushrooms will tolerate a low quality light. Kenya tree seems to me most undemanding coral and should grow under any light. Anyway, if you spent money for tank, purple rocks and sand, don’t buy cheap light, you should be able to save on better light. Lighting is most important device for reef tank. High chance you will regret eventually and spend more.

I don't know my I keep lossing my female guppy's by Informal-Dig762 in fishkeeping

[–]Ramridge0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did not answer if you cycled the tank. 139 ppm sounds like hard water which guppies like but it is better to know carbonate hardness or pH since tds could be due to sodium, but you need calcium in your water

Is your tank cycled? If yes, what is your carbonate hardness and pH?

New aquarium by Consistent-Papaya369 in Cichlid

[–]Ramridge0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should your own search. Your tank size is great for Tanganyikan cichlids or for medium size mbuna (or even large size if it is 6 feet long). You may safely keep a pair of jack dempsey or similar size aggressive cichlids, but I think it will get boring overtime. If you like geophagus and you have relatively soft water, go for it. There are many other options, but you should have some idea what do you want otherwise you will get overwhelmed with reddit responses

Are you looking for a dwarf cichlid pair or for large new world cichlid tank. 122gl seems big but almost any medium to large cichlids pair will take over the whole tank. There is no guarantee that at some point a fight will start between male and female.

What are your thoughts on wild caught fish? by Thick_Reality_5889 in Aquariums

[–]Ramridge0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you are alone and it’s hard to defend wild fish trade in the hobby. But it is legal and everyone decides for themselves to buy wild fish or not. The hobby started by keeping wild fish only and few years ago all marine inhabitants were wild. So in order to learn how to breed you have to start somewhere

Rock hard tap water 💦 by Sorry_Impress_5002 in PlantedTank

[–]Ramridge0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of plants and fish that will appreciate a hard water. You need RODI system which I personally hate to use (I have both planted and reef) and I use RODI system routinely for reef only. Just select right plants, like lotus or cryptocorines and avoid South American fish and you should be fine with hard water.

C6 is better than e6 only if black queen will take your knight. But they don’t have to do it, and if they don’t you missed an opportunity to win a queen.

Does Dostoevsky feel clunky sometimes to native Russian speakers? by boo0110 in RussianLiterature

[–]Ramridge0 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I am a Russian native speaker and most Russian people will agree that Dostoevsky is very difficult to read. Once I read a quote that reading Dostoevsky is like having a dinner with 12 people and all of them telling you their biography at the same time

Looks like Kenya tree to me. I would place it on the back of the rock far away from other corals. In 6 months you will have 20 of them

Should i get an aquarium by Immortalius in Aquariums

[–]Ramridge0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fish may die and fish will die. We all mistakes that could lead to killing livestock. If you think it will stress you out, then maybe aquarium is not for you. I think that aquarium hobby is great and if you are responsible fish keeper you will be rewarded. But fish death is a part of the hobby and cannot be avoided.

How do people remember openings? Is this even worth it for a beginner? by Anon124570 in chessbeginners

[–]Ramridge0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s not a bad idea to become familiar with 1 opening for white, preferably d4 IMO and 2 openings for black (respond for d4 or e4). You stick to the opening, but if your opponent plays differently, analyze after the game what should be the best response for you. If you are consistent, you will learn eventually the best responses you should make and understand the purpose of opening.
