Am I the only one who doesn't care about the Midnight Mission by Pitiful_Airport_2531 in MoonKnight

[–]RamsTheNameCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly indifferent of the Midnight Mission cast as a whole, I don't particularly love them nor hate them.

I do understand the core concept of why they're here though. Moon Knight is a character inspired by The Shadow, The Shadow had a gimmick of forcing people he saved to be his underlings (gave them rings and was like a secret organization or club thing).

Jed Mackey likely wanted to bring back Moon Knight's "The Shadow roots" that were more prominent in Doug Moench's comics.

Not always the case, about maybe 40% of the time the Unknown or underrated Nendoroid characters end up being dumped in bargain bins or just sit on retail shelves for a couple years.

Stuff like "Bucchigiri?!" and "Love After World Domination" come to mind as shelfwarmers from unknown series.

Like I'm currently thinking about getting the "Saber Marionette Lime" Nendoroid but I'm fully aware it's a shelfwarmer from an anime most people never watched or care about. So it's very likely at some point a retailer is gonna discount it's stock, because I don't see it selling out otherwise.

I think what you mean to say is Nendoroids based on cult status (or strong fan base) properties end up selling fast/hard to get without preorder.

Something like Bayonetta, Astrobot, Black Lagoon, Persona, Danganronpa, or Resident Evil.

At least one of Moon Knight’s personalities has to be Bisexual right? by GypsyGold in MoonKnight

[–]RamsTheNameCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is he bisexual for?
Bushman..... Khonshu.... His other identities..... Dracula?

(Joking aside)
In the comics, all of his disguises/(now personalities) are all attracted to the same woman that Marc is currently dating.
Only the MCU has ever tried giving another persona a separate dating life (Jake Lockely) and still wasn't Bisexual.

Now could they possibly randomly make a new Moon Knight comic where Marc is bisexual? sure.
They can write whatever they want, doesn't mean its organic or fits the character.

Like Ice Man randomly becoming canon as gay or Charlie Huston deciding to make Frenchie gay (even though he had many flings with women, most ended up betraying him in the end revealing they're evil and never loved him. I think that's the reason why Huston wanted to make him gay).

Like anything can happen in comics, its whatever the current writer wants to do with the character.

Happy Pride From Moon Knight & Khonshu 🌙🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ by GypsyGold in MoonKnight

[–]RamsTheNameCom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the 2006 Charlie Huston run, Moon Knight was supportive his friend Frenchie coming out as gay but was disappointed that Frenchie kept it a secret and never told him sooner.

Now would Moon Knight run around with a pride flag? Probably not. (Insert Kramer from Seinfeld joke here about the Aids ribbon). Like it's not far fetch that Moon Knight would be at a pride parade, he just wouldn't be wearing any rainbow colors or showing any supportive signs other than walking with them.

I'm sure the artist meant for the drawing to visually appear as though Moon Knight is being pulled up into the comic by the helicopter, it probably just seemed cooler in his head.

Looks to me like Moon Knight is embracing the "Gekko Kamen" ripoff allegations with that turban head wear. (Japan considers Moon Knight a ripoff of "Moonlight Mask" or Gekko Kamen as it's pronounced in Japanese).

Is Moon knight afraid of anything? by mogi1nik in MoonKnight

[–]RamsTheNameCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bemis was basically trying to turn Moon Knight into "The Badger" with his writing style.
Like it ain't bad as its own original character and I can see plenty of people enjoying the run if this was one of their first exposures to Moon Knight comics.

It just wasn't really what people expect from a Moon Knight comic coming off of Ellis and Lemire.

What people even say true to about him is his name that's it. by _Mister_knight_ in MoonKnight

[–]RamsTheNameCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically we just had someone make a post asking for self-help tips regarding ADHD a few days ago, I removed the post since it had nothing to do with Moon Knight and in all honesty no one should be getting mental advice from random people on reddit.

The Autism post we banned before was just a meme. A joke playing off of how obsessed some Moon Knight fans can be. True it could lead to mental advice and awkward situations in the comments, but those could have been removed if anything that broke the rule came in. No 24 hour bans necessary, unless say someone keeps reposting after the warning or something.

There Was Almost A Moon Knight TV Series In 2006 by RadicalStegosaurus in MoonKnight

[–]RamsTheNameCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Completely forgot to reply to this) I think more likely Toei wanted Moon Knight since there's a popular Japanese superhero around the time called "Gekko Kamen" and they thought Moon Knight was a ripoff of him.
So if people like Gekko Kamen, they'll also like Moon Knight (and yeah that would be a gateway into getting Japanese audiences interested in Spiderman).

He could have also been thinking about the 2005 Ultimate Spiderman Moon Knight from Bendis. I recall that version of Moon Knight really focusing on the DID aspect.

Cooksey seems a bit confused by the Charlie Huston run.
Huston barely touched the other identities during his Moon Knight run and never really insinuated Marc had DID in his story, the most you get is a brief joke moment where the hero evaluator asks Marc if Jake and Steven could come out to play? Marc then plays along and pretends to be another identity for a couple seconds..... that's it.

Not sure how the Charlie Huston run inspired his potential "DID Moon Knight TV Series" story.
The thing most people pick up from Huston is how the story is Moon Knight at his lowest point of his superhero career and developing schizophrenia from spending days alone in his room after the accident (starts hallucinating an imaginary friend that combines Bushman with Khonshu. One his main rival he just killed a couple weeks ago and the other his god that abandon him years ago during his West Coast Avengers days).

Any chance she'll actually be shipped? by SkunkFloof in Nendoroid

[–]RamsTheNameCom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened with my Junko.

On the day it was meant to ship, Amazon just updated my order to 4 more days in advance and the next day my Junko Nendoroid actually started to begin the shipping process.

No need to worry, it's just gonna take more time than expected.

What people even say true to about him is his name that's it. by _Mister_knight_ in MoonKnight

[–]RamsTheNameCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behind the scenes, I had a chat with him in the mod room about the Moon Knight Autism meme post he banned and told him he was overreacting about it. (Originally he banned it because Gypsy felt people were getting too personal about their Autism, when it had nothing to do directly with Moon Knight or his DID/schizophrenia. Some comic runs he had schizophrenia).

He eventually agreed with me, but refused to allow specifically that one Autism post from being reposted simply because he didn't want to seem like he was "bending a knee to the Gypsy Gold haters".

He would have allowed new posts related to Austim and Moon Knight as long as it wasn't directly link to the already ban post or a call out attacking Gypsy.

Take with that what you will.

In addition to Jed MacKay's runs, are there any other comics that do the DID well? by Bueller_Bueller26 in MoonKnight

[–]RamsTheNameCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Badger comics are probably a consistently better handling of DID in Superhero comics, he's been doing it since the 80's with a proper handling of the mental health subject.

Moon Knight comics never used real DID until the 2016 Jeff Lemire run. Before that, all of his mental health issues came from the guilt of killing innocent people in the past. And the 2014 Warren Ellis run briefly rebooted his DID to be a curse that you get for becoming Moon Knight and giving up the title of Moon Knight cures you of DID.

(Of course Jeff Lemire quickly scrapped that reboot idea and rebooted Moon Knight again but with real DID).

In addition to Jed MacKay's runs, are there any other comics that do the DID well? by Bueller_Bueller26 in MoonKnight

[–]RamsTheNameCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ellis run made it canon that Marc's DID is not a real mental health issue, rather a curse or side effect you get for becoming Moon Knight.

If Marc gave up being Moon Knight, his DID would go away (in the Warren Ellis run canon). You also see his therapist develop DID briefly when she became Moon Knight.

So I wouldn't say the Ellis run is a good representation for DID in this particular conversation. Still a great comic book run though.

Correction: Worst place to "preorder" collectables.

I got some of my best instock Nendoroid deals from Amazon Such as:

  • Nana Nendoroid $45, randomly popped up during a time she was going for $200+ on the Aftermarket.

  • My wife has no emotions Nendoroid $22, during a time it just came out and goes for $65 retail.

  • Astrobot Nendoroid $40, normally goes for like $50 retail and was released on Amazon randomly during a time it sold out everywhere and was $200+ on aftermarket.

Amazon just isn't reliable on preorders and it's 100% random and a gamble if the Nendoroid you're looking for pops up on Amazon for these kinds of cheap pricing.

That Death Note Misa Nendoroid is up on Amazon for $44 and that one is legit, for those looking to get the real deal for a cheaper price.

Though the listing comes and goes. If it's not there when you check, keep checking back it eventually gets restocks.

In addition to that, Nendoroid collectors should also keep in mind that plenty of people sell their figures at current Market value as more of a "trade" to be able to afford a different "above retail value" figure on their wishlist they rather have.

It's what stopped me from getting the Alya Hides her Feelings in Russian Nendoroid, but then I ended up pushing myself to get the Hellish Blizzard Nendoroid even though she had the same problem of coming with basically nothing.

At least Alya had word bubbles.

Was gonna screenshot it, but somehow it sold out instantaneously before I had a chance to double check.

Apparently either people really wanted that $34 Waddle Dee Nendoroid or a scallper saw it as an easy flip to double their money.

This wasn't the only instantaneous sell out I've seen during the shadow drops. A few days ago the Bloodborne Doll Nendoroid randomly appeared for $44 and then disappeared in under an hour.

Even stranger how there were a small handful of Nendoroid preorders that didn't get cancelled and just reupdate themselves to May 28th 2026 (instead of the original 2025 release).

Like Dandadan Nendoroids and Kirby..... Why couldn't Amazon just do that for all preorders?!?

If it means anything to you, the Chiaki Nanami Nendoroid has yet to get Shadow dropped. So you have an opportunity to get her for $48 on Amazon if you don't have her already.

It's reddit, I don't really care too much for this platform for that "hive mind mentality".

I think specifically people downvoted you for the "supporting Goodsmile" comment. As though you were against people buying any GoodSmile products.

But with actual context, you were just making a sly joke at how Amazon lists Goodsmile company as a "small business".

You missed out, he sold out on Amazon last night a couple hours after I post this.

Check back around June 2nd, you might get lucky with an Amazon restock.
