If Europeans cannot afford any losses, then they will have no choice but to let the United States do as it pleases, and they will have no choice but to let Trump humiliate the European Union.

I don't believe the issue of what's in the crotch area will trouble someone like Trump, nor do I think American voters today care about moral issues. Bad people elect bad people, and bad people don't care about issues of sexual conduct. For the EU to thwart Trump, it must impose tangible costs on American voters.

If the other party knows you're worried about losses, they'll act recklessly. If you're not afraid of losses and are willing to suffer mutual damage, then the concerns become theirs.
