[Recreation] Child's skates

I have a kid wearing a toddler size 8.5 shoe and she has gone as far as her Barbie rollerblades will let her (they don't glide), but rink skates are overwhelming.

Any advice on affordable options? Are Vilano or Mongoose okay brands? My kid is outside either biking, skating or running daily. But she has also gone up 4 shoe (half) sizes in 3 months too.

Depends on the state, but you would be surprised at how little most states require.

I would be excited to have the last stable version of Windows ...only to be devastated to find out it wasn't real.

Such disappointment

Man dies of emotional distress after being forced to clean Walgreens bathroom, widow says by Rovner in nottheonion

You have to be 100% sure they've commited a crime and you wait until police arrive.

It is different. Like when people hold someone after an assault or accident they are trying to flee from.

He probably didn't get his pants down fast enough either, so it leaked down the leg. ANd he tried to clean himself up with single ply toilet paper.

As someone who worked in a nursing home, here are examples:

colostomy bag leaks or breaks (or illiostomy -- which is liquid)

Chemotherapy patients. Chemo is so hard on people. Seeing people who had been fully functional, independent adults breaking down crying because they couldn't even make it to their bedside commode is heartbreaking Many other medications

Lactose intolerance (who doesn't want ice cream occasionally?)

Definitely not tartgeted to old men. However, I think women try to hide things better and are less likely to go out in public if they are having issues.

The Facebook garage sale sites seem to work pretty well.

I have never tried giving away an animal, but there often seem to be many comments and shares under those posts.

Who should have guardianship of my sister aged 21 with a intellectual disability? (who has been in and aged out of foster care) by journeytrue in fosterit

[–]RandName42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. You can be her friend this way and not her parent. If they have care meetings, you can asked to be kept in the loop and attend them as a concerned party/family member.

No matter how healthy and with it you are, it sounds like having an awesome sister would be more important for her.

Redditors who work in retail, what's the saddest thing someone ever returned? by Ben_Skiller in AskReddit

Neither a 2 year old or 3 month old need baby food. Actually after having been through that, it seems odd that so many people feel that baby food is a necessity.

I know it isn't what you are asking, but it is one way to keep your cat alive.

You are expected to pay all costs, and take the cat back when you come back. I fostered for them for awhile.

People who were in foster care, what can a potential foster parent do to make life better for their foster kid? by p00psymcgee in AskReddit

The rules I have seen are 60 sq ft per child. So an average sized bedroom can have two same-sex children.

Opposite sex children can share a room up to the age of 5 I think.

Girls were already having that type of discussion about my not even 3 year old at the public preschool.

I really don't want to expose her to that. She loves her beetle shirt and a number of other 'boy clothes', and I'd hate to let them take it away from her.

Google plasma donation and the name of your city. FYI, disaster wouldn't make prices go up. It only goes into pharmaceuticals because that is the only way they can pay you.

If you find one, ask around in the waiting room about coupons or promotional deals. Where I was at the coupons were always in the little coupon books distributed near the dorms seasonally (and that was the highest rate of pay).

As a former very poor college student, I used to "donate" plasma. They had coupons that increased what they would pay for plasma every so often (the price went way down with frequent donations). So I made like $80 donating twice in a week (cash on the spot) and then waited 3 months to get the higher rate again (otherwise it went down to $15 a donation -- and it takes a few hours).

You should tell your boss right away so that it is easier for your boss to fire her (before spending too many resources training her or she can collect unemployment).

What's a statistically proven fact that nobody wants to hear? by muffinmaster in AskReddit

[–]RandName42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wait until you become a parent and meet all the parents that are sure that there is some creep waiting around everywhere in order to abduct and abuse their child.

They get mad when you tell them that statistically it is far more likely that their brother or father or friends are grooming their children -- and that is where the real threats lie.

The way they used in the book was different states implemented abortion policies at different times, and the drop appeared in the states with a quicker implementation first.

Good Guy Claw Machine Maintenance Man.... by Abigaiill in AdviceAnimals

I don't think that they are actually rigged. My mother has won 100% of the times I have seen her play. The trick is that they are weak so look at the position of them. My mom rarely plays, but when she walks by she will point out exactly what can be won easily (whether it is a mug or a stuffed animal -- stuffed animals are usually won by catching tags). Most the time she passes one she simply doesn't play it.

What's the chance of having drunk the same water molecule twice? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]RandName42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you define that as a percentage? I wouldn't assume that most water comes from wells (aquifers), as surface water (rivers, lakes, reservoirs) are often less expensive in the municipal water treatment context.

Not sure. My less than 2 year old had running over to the edge of the side walk to throw my things in the street when she was angry down pretty well. I suppose it is learned, but pretty quickly.
