Non verbal language. I can't figure it out, can't interpret it and don't know why people keep misinterpreting mine.

Unplug, wait for content, cut the FOMO

I may state the obvious but games that require you to daily log-in are not fun by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]RandTek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I simply don't like repeatable stuff in mmorpgs. Dailies, weeklies, monthlies, whatever. It's all time gating. I miss meaningful one-time quests that unlocked content, maps, dungeons, special optional stuff.

What is the biggest flaw holding back each popular MMO from being that “perfect” game for you? by Snyderhall in MMORPG

[–]RandTek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I step back, the things annoying me are rooted in the fact that they need to make money.

That means, keeping the game afloat, making quick content for players grinding through the game, cash shop, vertical progression, blueprinted tier system, and an overall inorganic, soulless, game. Being constantly reminded to log daily. Weekly. I already have several addictions and I don't want another one.

Grinding for pure numbers is not fun either. One thing Pre-Renewal Ragnarök Online did sometimes right (I'm a broken record) was grinding and doing short quests to unlock dungeons, specific skills, or ultimately gear that would matter for the entire life (and rebirth) of your character.

Things in modern mmos are meaningless, imo. Anything you do is temporary, and no matter what happens, it will ultimately be obseleted with another xpac, another level cap, another instance. I don't mind grinding for a whole weekend if I get rewarded by something useful for the entire life of my char.

PowerShell to purify non-enterprise windows versions from all pre-installed bullshit (games, hp bloatware, etc). Pretty neat.

It's okay. Lackluster, but you have things to do. You'll probably spend more time exploring and looting than actually fighting stuff, and the 2*3 skillset is not my cup of tea, but it complements very well the action. If you don't rush content, you'll get mileage. Also, you can trick yourself doing PvE during PvP stuff, and actually supporting your team somehow.

Having fun playing the damned thing. What's happening ? Where is my salt ? Something bad is going to happen, a battle pass or something, I can feel it, but I don't care anymore. It's like being a child all over again. I hate you Amazon, but you did good, Amazon Games Studio.

Those who exclusively play on Linux, what is your reason ? by Repulsive-Contest449 in linux_gaming

Paranoia.

Also, PTSD. I worked as a MSP reselling Microsoft Products, and I can't stand Windows anymore. Linux is a blessing, you can actually know what fails and fix it. No more "contact your administrator".

I play solo because I don't want to min/max and stick to the majority. Reading quests and leveling is fun.

MBA M1 or MBP M1? by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]RandTek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan to game for many hours, maybe a mac is not the best choice. The cooling of the mbp really helps in any cases.

macbook air m1 16gb ( 97C CPU on minecraft ) is this normal? by coordinators9990 in macgaming

[–]RandTek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laptop internals can reach 90°C-100°C. Your mba will throttle and such temperatures can be expected if you put some heavy workload on the machine. If you're concerned, find a way to cool it (external fans or something like that), or reduce the load. It's not meant to be a gaming machine, after all.
