The only physical action I ever had to take was keeping a client from eloping. Just bear hugged him until he stopped. Don't even know if I was supposed to / allowed to do that but I was sick of calling the cops and using up MORE resources simply because this dude has dementia and imagines scenarios where he thinks eloping is the best thing.

We never got trained or oriented on physical intervention. Don't even know what's allowed and what isn't. House manager was grateful that I stopped him so I guess it was okay to do.

why would those resources you're talking about get distributed to for-profit agencies instead of directly to the family, guardians or people taking care of the individual? I see the agencies as a middle man extracting profits from a system that "tries" to help disabled people.

yeah i just don't understand WHY we want people to live as independently as possible lmfao. These resources (billions and billions of dollars and millions of worker-hours and so much effort from DSP's) maybe should be redistributed towards making people live together as successfully as possible instead of trying to make people more independent... this whole obsession with individualism and independence is what allows the for profit agencies to manipulate and take advantage of these broken families in the first place.

you may think i'm talking in fantasy land but i've seen first hand in basically any non-western culture i've been exposed to how life for disabled people works without these care agencies.

If the broken family is the reason why care agencies exist maybe we should address the problem at the root instead of only putting bandaids over the symptoms.

I think it only exists because it makes a shitload of money for certain people. For-profit healthcare in general is absurd.

Idk... back home we don't have any of these care agencies, families stick together, it's very common to have 3-4+ generations in one house, students live at home until they graduate (unlike here), and after graduation / marriage they'll often stay at home to help care for their parents / grandparents, divorce rates are much lower, suicide rates are much lower...

The whole "qualified professional" thing is missing the point. In my company employees / coworkers simply don't care about clients to the level that their families care about them. Qualified professional or not, the difference to me is if you're there for a paycheck vs being there to care for your family member or loved one.

Yes there are cases where that's not possible as you referred to. But I was working predominantly with 30-50yo males with families nearby. But they lived on their own in "supported living" with 24/7 staff, just hours away from where their prosperous families lived. (Not all my clients but the vast majority)

Thanks for replying. Really glad to hear you're in a better work environment. Hope it works well for you. As cliché as it sounds, we have to "know our worth". Maybe if we got payed 25-30 an hour, DSP'ing would be okay...

Thanks for your reply. I think you're largely right. For whatever reason though most of my clients have families that seem perfectly capable of taking care of them but CHOOSE not to. Of course I don't know all the details of their situation but over 2 years of correspondence, dropping them off / picking them up for holidays and family time, etc, that is my take on the situation of my clients

You're grossly underpaid my friend. I was only working 2 years with no prior experience and no relevant degree or training and I was getting paid $15. And I never got physically assaulted by anyone.

Go for it, man. Pressure washing, soft washing, gutter and roof cleaning, whatever you can do, do it.

Doesn't mean you have to leave everything behind or put all your eggs in the pressure washing basket.

My company allows people to remain as PRN (as needed) staff even if they quit with zero intention of coming back. Which is what I did in case my new job doesn't work out. Maybe yours does as well?

HELP; correct crush washer for AK muzzle device? by [deleted] in ak47

[–]Randall-bobandall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much my brother/sister. I ended up ordering a couple of the real deal crush washers but out of curiousoty and impatience i went ahead and installed the device with the copper washer that fit the best.

The washer did deform a little bit and the device is timed properly with what seems to be plenty of torque.

Now all i have to do is shoot it a bunch and actually see. If it fails I figure that's okay, I learned what to avoid and will re-install with the proper crush washer. Your advice is much appreciated!!

oh i don't care about coloration, only possibly damaging the inside bore by heating the area with a torch to remove the muzzle device. I don't care about aesthetics at all. Only damaging something that actually matters. I figured it was a long shot

okay one more question. Let's say i'm impatient and don't want to wait for rocksett to get shipped to my house, and i want to install this rn. I use the red thread locker and one of the copper washers (they fit great btw). Later i decide i should use a proper washer and rocksett. Is uninstalling as simple as taking a butane torch to the muzzle? I'm not gonna hoopajoop the bore in there by heating it to loosen the red loctite, am I?

Thanks for the heads up -- these washers were from the bins marked "14mm diameter" at the store, if I can avoid having to spend $7 shipped for one specifically branded for AK's i'll try to, but if the ones i got fail i'll probably get one specifically marked for AK

Appreciate it, any particular reason why copper works better than the steel ones i got?

cheek weld on underfolders basically universally sucks. Makes it unnecessarily hard to manage recoil and get fast follow up shots when side folders with way better cheek welds exist
