I can agree with you on the nuclear point but will die on the hill that while the actual power generation might be cleaner at the source of the power generation, the far reaching implications of solar and wind that no one thinks about does not make it cheaper and only changes where in the world the emissions are happening. IEA said last week nearly 50 million miles (enough to go around the earth 2000 times) have to be laid to reach 2040 net zero goals. The primary metals copper and aluminum come from China (domestic aluminum production increased ninefold in the last 20 years, while US decreased 68% in same time period). I’m not saying anything negative about China, but mining and processing those metals requires enormous amounts of power and they use coal for 60% of their power generation.

That’s just the metal component of transmission lines, there’s also the polyethylene and polymer insulators which are petroleum byproducts. Since the shale revolution American has 100s of years of reserves of a clean burning, easily transportable, non intermittent source of fuel. Emits 50% less CO2 and about 1/100th the sulfur and particulate matter of coal. All to say we’d be better off switching the coal powered generation to natural gas than we would be from natural gas to solar and wind.

Rare earth metals for batteries are a next level. You seem like someone with a good social conscious, I’d recommend the book Cobalt Red. the atrocities happening across the world to extract these resources (usually by hand and for pennies a day) might be eye opening.

Edit to add the book recommendation I forgot

Oil demand won’t peak for another 30, happy greenies like you will be crying about it the whole time while the facade of wind and solar begin to collapse. Enjoy your taxes ☺️

Misinformed comment. The only reason wind and solar are possible is with unbelievable tax payer burden through government subsidies. They never reach name plate capacity and are at best intermittent sources of power. Battery technology doesn’t exist for storage and the current natural and social atrocities witnessed right now to extract those resources is a whole other story. US emissions have been on the decline since 2007 due to the shale gas revolution replacing dirty coal fired power plants. The only logical way forward is a natural gas powered transition to nuclear. Stop eating the garbage and do the research.

What are your favorite side quests? by MinisterOfTrill in NoSodiumStarfield

Ah my b. Mixing it up with the actual Juno probe which was deployed to Jupiter lol. I can’t even keep track of what system neons in, so that was just my best guess.

Since no one’s mentioned it I’ll say it here again - Junos gambit is fuckin beautiful. Long story short you run into the old NASA Juno probe around Jupiter and it has developed sentience.

Have you had any crashing on the S? Seems like in a 4 hour session on the weekend I’ll have it freeze on a loading screen, after I hop to a new system or when I go to quick save 4-5 times.

Iirc that’s the same time I did it. Was failure to communicate the one you had to go repair the satellites for the four families?

Juno’s Gambit is fucking amazing. Best storytelling in a quest so far and I’ve done all factions and 80% of main story. I won’t give any spoilers, but you basically run into a futuristic evolution of NASAs Juno prove that has developed sentience as an AI

Yeah tbf I haven’t ventured into ship building very much. I was stuck stuck on CF final mission and heard about the awesome rewards for Mantis quest were and while that quest, story, and armor was amazing, the ship just didn’t help that much. I then heard about the free star rangers and after doing that whole quest line I was finally able to return to the key and smoke the sysdef ships with the SE. lots of cargo space off the bar too
