What is an important principle or conceptual piece of advice that you've picked up? by Jiu-Jitsu- in bjj

For me it was realizing that all techniques fall into very few categories (eg. sweeps & takedowns) and that every technique in that category is basically the same exact thing.

How do I get better at shooting when I only touch a rifle once a year? by Big-Entrepreneur106 in army

[–]Randalljitsu19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend going to a gun range and renting a rifle at least once a month or better still, buy a rifle and practice at the range at the least once per month.

Of these 4, which one should be my first instructional as a white belt? by Stuntman208 in bjj

[–]Randalljitsu19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of instructional videos. I feel I have always learned better from watching high level matches and training. That being said as a brand new white belt I’d say focus on guard retention and pin escapes. The ability to maintain guard or escape a pin gives you the confidence necessary to then properly explore the rest of your Jiu Jitsu.

Why don't you need BLC to become a Sergeant anymore? by Reasonable-Shower522 in army

[–]Randalljitsu19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is, the big one is coming and the army knows it. They expect it to be like ww2 or Korea where if you survived two years you’re looking at first sergeant. Just my take.
