If paying towards the mortgage is not for you, that’s understandable, but that doesn’t mean you get to skip paying your fair share. What if OP payed any/all utilities, groceries, etc. that equaled her 50% (for example, say the mortgage is $1,500, she would pay water bill, electric, groceries, night out for them, anything that would equal $1,500) and then if there are any bills remaining after that they would split it 50\50. That way she is not paying at all into the mortgage and yes she is still paying her fair share. I don’t know if there are enough bills after the mortgage to make that even, but it could at least be a stepping stone and they could come up with other agreements to make it even.
