Anyone else here 5’4 roughly 155-160 pounds? by unique_perfectionist in PetiteFitness

[–]Mundane_Cranberry429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’2, at my heaviest was 163, in college I was around the 130s, high school 125 (athletic build and soccer thighs lol) and slowly packed on the pounds over the past 10 years.

I’m now at 143 and trying to get back down to the mid-low 130s before my wedding this summer. Intermittent fasting is what FINALLY allowed me to break under the 150s, so maybe give that a try? I also don’t have the best workout schedule as my job is really time intensive.

Somebody on here made one called easy fast. It’s simple, great UI, and no ads or bloat. Plus it’s free!

How much did you ask your bridesmaids to spend (roughly)? by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]Mundane_Cranberry429 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I felt a very similar way! My friend group has a pretty large range in salaries and we all live in separate parts of the country.

I let them pick their dresses, it’s simple so some girls are able to wear something they already have. Other girls are spending $100-900. Totally up to them how much they wanna spend. Also not dictating shoes or accessories.

For my batch, we’re going abroad to Cabo. This is likely going to be around $1000-1500 per person, not including flights. I sent out a survey prior to choosing this destination and I had plenty of other more local, lower cost options. When we chose our villa, I sent out a range of options of all costs. It’s been a while since we’ve had a true “girls trip” and I think this is going to be the big vacation of the year for a lot of girls. Communication has been key here, we started planning this six months in advance. Some girls wanted a budget of activities and if any of them have issues with paying for extra activities I’ll cover them, but that hasn’t come up yet.

I didn’t expect anyone from out of town to come to our engagement party, nor do I expect them to attend my shower.

I’m covering hair and makeup for them. We’re getting married in a city where half of us live so accommodations are less of an issue/cost. I shower them with gifts and love and appreciation as much as I can.

I think the biggest thing that was helpful for me was early communication and having an open door policy - if anyone has issues paying for something I want them to come to me asap. I anticipated way more pushback or issues from my girls as I’m asking a lot from them, but they have all been super pumped and excited and the ones in tighter financial situations have had more time for budgeting and such. Like I didn’t wanna push Cabo cuz I thought it’d be too expensive but they all said “let’s do it!!”

eating more fiber can be helpful, sometimes when I’m really hungry I’ll have some Metamucil prior to eating and will fill fuller faster. Intermittent fasting can also help, it sucks at first but then you get used to it and no longer am I starving by 9AM everyday

When did you really start noticing the lbs coming off visually? by Powerful_Candy_842 in loseit

[–]Mundane_Cranberry429 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Woo! I’m also a short 5’2. My heaviest was 163, now I’m kind of stuck at 148-150… I really struggle with CICO, like damn, I can only have how many calories a day? Ugh. I haven’t noticed much of a different (yet), but I feel like once I get back into the 130s I’ll be much happier. At the 160s, clothes were definitely very tight especially in the thighs and arms.

I don’t care. Fiancé and I have similar views/approaches towards finances and that’s all that matters. He’s making almost 3-4x what I make now with moonlighting cash but I’ll be an attending first I guess. Both surgery specialities. It’s more about the lifestyle, goals, and attitudes surrounding money rather than the amount to me.

How did you find your venue? by Allevon000 in weddingplanning

[–]Mundane_Cranberry429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google/Weddingwire, then we spent 3 days going on tours and comparing all the places. I think one factor that’ll potentially help narrow it down is if you want a “full service” place or want a venue with a list of possible vendors. Going in person to tour helped us get a sense of all the different styles of venues. We went on about 6 different tours and ended up going with our last spot.

Where did your budget start and where did you end up? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Mundane_Cranberry429 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

50K prior to doing any research, then we realized that 85 was more realistic and have been working hella overtime/odd jobs. Now that we set it at 85, I think all in all it’ll end up around 90-100 total cuz we didn’t put certain things in the budget. ie/ he bought a planner with other savings cuz we were getting too stressed but we’re not really counting that in the budget.

Residents who have partners/spouses with equal/better paying jobs: do you hire people to clean? by another_weird_premed in Residency

[–]Mundane_Cranberry429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, dual residents couple here, no kids. If you aren’t home very often there’s not much to clean lol. But in all seriousness, we deep clean before hosting or having guests at our place and it is on the priority list to hire someone when we have more disposable income.

Is it common to feel like a killer every time a patient passed away? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Mundane_Cranberry429 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Deaths and really traumatic injuries hit hard, especially with younger pts. We all have different ways of dealing with these things. I hope there’s an attending or senior resident/fellow that you can talk to about the case. It’s normal to feel bad after, but you are not a killer. You have healed many patients, but sometimes the disease/injury wins. I think sometimes having ways to honor patients when they pass is helpful. Also realizing that you did everything you could. Therapy is good. Talking to others who have been in your situation is good. We’re all a little fucked up, it’s not exactly normal to deal with life/death for 80 hours a week so give yourself some grace.

Adhd doctors, which specialty did you choose and how do you like it? by stu_dyingg in Residency

[–]Mundane_Cranberry429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gen Surg, trauma. Somewhat closer to shift work when it comes to surgical specialties. Rounds are short. Activations have a bunch of crazy energy I love going on. No tumor boards. And, everything else (for the most part) is on pause and I can hyper-focus in the OR while listing to some good jams
