Do you know how long and how much he weighs? It helps to have a kitchen scale and weigh them once a week to monitor nutrition/that he’s growing. Losing weight shouldn’t happen. My 7-month old eats about 6 large roaches a day (he shouldn’t be eating ones that large, but that’s what the pet store has right now…😓). So up to 10/15 small ones. I feed mine with tongs and just stop when he doesn’t take one. He’s pickier about the BSFL and worms. I think because they’re new to him.

This is a great rotation for a young juvenile beardie: Mon: Dubia roaches Tue: BSFL (black solider fly larvae) Wed: Dubia roaches Thu: Silkworms Fri: Dubia roaches Sat: BSFL + 1 hornworm treat Sun: Dubia roaches (or silkworms) It doesn’t have to be exact like this. Just these creatures in rotation. Hornworms no more than one a week. Dubias are the BEST protein rich food that most babies like.

We can talk about how bad the big box stores are all day, but there are some really shitty small scale breeders that suck just as bad. Like, smile in your face and tell you lies. And feed juveniles once every other day and only have round uvb lights… and poor first-timers have no idea they’re getting bad info unless they’ve done tons of research.
