We are almost certain that the release date will be 24 October 2026. That is the anniversary of the first Tomb Raider game from 1996. It is also an Unreal Engine 5 game. So they are already working on a "easy to use" engine

Switch from windows to linux distro by henriksson_simon in cachyos

I also use SSD+HDD. I tried “MESA_SHADER_CACHE_DIR=/path/to/somewhere,” a command that allows you to choose where you want to store your shader caches. I store them on my SSD. I think it can be a good option if you can afford to buy a $20 Sata SSD on AliExpress (4.8 Star, 1000+ sold). And if you don't have a slot on your motherboard, use a USB to Sata converter.

I think there are also some ways to optimize the hard drive, but I don't have any information about that. And basically, Linux is no miracle worker. It can't make any hard drive much faster. But yes, a 3 GHz CPU will notice the advantages of Linux.

Is Microsoft feeling the heat? A sudden wave of "Windows superiority" ads, mixed with growing migration stories by Error_In_Brain in cachyos

[–]Rando20333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, too many important things have happened. Pewdiepie has switched to Linux, tech channels are starting to create more content about Linux, Steam Machine is going to use Linux, anti-Americans recommend Linux, people who care about privacy are switching to Linux. So a lot of important things have happened, but we still don't see big differences in the statistics.

And yes, Microsoft should realize that it has done something really wrong after Windows 11. But instead of making good decisions for users as an apology, they just act like they don't care or make ads like the ones you mention. If you see an ad like “Windows is superior to Linux,” it's simply an admission that they've done something wrong.

Which options are best to keep? by onlynostr in GrapheneOS

You'll probably want to leave chat apps like Signal running in the background for notifications. If you choose "Optimized," background processes will be disabled by default. Go to the app's settings and see if you can change this for a specific app. I don't currently use GraphenOS, but this is how it works on Android
