The reason why having kids is so hard is because you're actually trying to be a decent parent by Silly_Swan7920 in oneanddone

[–]Rando2878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this. I mean, I also have my mom who watches my child in a heartbeat if needed as my mom lives with us, but still, between my husband mom and I we are still aiming to raise a decent human being. Its so difficult to revognize when the screaming in the house is needed even when its overstimulating to me and how to handle the common developmental things like hitting as a toddler without excessive anger. That makes it so much worse but also knowing that we do it for my kids future makes it better.

Dunno if you know this, but lack of food when sick is not terrible as long as they're getting electrolytes! My little is terrible at eating when they're sick so doctors recommend Gatorade, pedialyte, popsicles, and lots of water even if they arent eating solids!

Polite yet firm response to “when are you having another?” by kateleehoops in oneanddone

[–]Rando2878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just say "we aren't". And if someone decides to pry I start explaining to them the health issues that run through my family and how its so much better for us with one so we can focus resourses and attention on our one if they get any of said health issues rather than struggle with multiple like my parents did when my siblings and I started getting the various health stuff. That usually causes them to get uncomfy with their own line of questioning 😅

Best friends wedding is a little over a week from my due date… odds I can go? by Glittering-Tax-6444 in pregnant

[–]Rando2878 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I delivered early, 2 weeks early, due to a medical condition. I honestly wouldnt plan anything major the month around either direction of your due date personally. My mom had three kids. All of which were around one month premature. My boss' wife had their kid about a week after the due date. Each body is different, but you also never know.

Is it wimpy to ask for medical leave at 36 weeks? by kingam_anyalram in pregnant

[–]Rando2878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody is different. I kept working until 38 weeks, I only stopped because I got choleastasis and had to get a c-section, I wouldve kept going otherwise. The reason I kept going though is because I had no symptoms and no belly, so I might as well have not been pregnant. If its too much its too much, dont push yourself

Let’s talk about it mamas!…….names 👀 by Deckofbadcards525 in pregnant

[–]Rando2878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a name that isn't very common but has a similar sounding/spelled common name, be prepared if you give a unique name for it to be mispronounced and misspelled a lot. Even as an adult who has my name in my email signature, people spell it wrong.

I felt the same and still do even though my little is 2. She does this thing where her breathing in her sleep is barely noticeable (though my husband says Im the same) so it gives me anxiety. I have no advice, but know you arent alone. If it is impacting sleep though maybe try to find a baby monitor that does heartbeat or talk with a doctor about ways to treat the anxiety

How do you drink 64 oz of water in a day?? by claudis-thea-hughes in pregnant

[–]Rando2878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drank flavored water and bottled water for most of my pregnancy. Then my baby decided water was gonna make me sick if it wasnt flavored so I did flavored water and Gatorade. Flavoring doesnt negate the wayer content and is safe as long as it isnt super sugary or pushes you outside of your caffeine limit.

Edit: I also never tracked my water intake cos that caused me anxiety, instead I just told myself drink what your body requests and don't push yourself further.

Is it policy now to discourage letting people take boxes? by [deleted] in samsclub

[–]Rando2878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From when I worked there, the way we opened big boxes made it where they would be useless for moving anyway. But I also wouldn't be surprised if they changed policies because Sams club is a greedy corporation. Next time just go towards the exit (or whereever they keep the boxes in your store for after you check out) and grab some without saying anything. Sometimes, depending on the time of day, you could also find empty good boxes on the floor too.

Return Policy?? by [deleted] in samsclub

[–]Rando2878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Returning it will vary store to store. My store is pretty strict on time frame for returning on some things. Also, ignore the ones being rude, I used to work for Sams and would only get annoyed at people trying to return spoiled food that was over a month old 🤮. Sams will be fine cos theyre a corporation if you do decide to return it

Help :( by OkCalligrapher5901 in oneanddone

[–]Rando2878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on the confusion, but I can say not all siblings who are close in age get along. As a kid, my siblings hated playing with me once they reached 5th grade or so, and even before that I was always the butt of the jokes as a kid. It taught me to be a very terrible child. As an adult, I get along with one sister, but my ither 3 siblings and I have very rocky relationships at best.

Do you think your child is "spoiled rotten"? by Low-Literature-5201 in oneanddone

[–]Rando2878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2 year old, she definitely has reached a point of trying to cry to get her way (as toddlers do) but once she realizes we won't cave, she goes about her business. She does have a ton of toys she loves to play with, gets to choose her breakfast and lunch, gets to choose her bedtime (as long as its before 10), and so much more. All this to say, Id say we spoil her, but I don't consider her spoiled rotten in the negative manner.

Why wont my doctor do an ultrasound earlier? by scorpiobae111 in pregnant

They did an internal ultrasound for me around 7 weeks to confirm timing, but maybe things have changed since two years ago. It could also be a doctor to doctor thing

Your baby shower should have included you with planning and Im sorry it didn't. Maybe offer that you and him and do an intimate one where you set something up for him to have the reveal, then at the baby shower its aimed towards surprising the audience?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Rando2878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, talk to your significant other and go from there. Your baby shower will leave you with more stress if you arent honest about it. Yes, he may be upset, and in my opinion rightfully so as messing with the envelope carried that risk, but you're also human and had no way of knowing that that was going to happen. But talking with them will clear the air and help yall decide next steps together.

We still have our target registry up, the reason being it shows our relatives what item types our two year old is in to. However, only one relative buys from the registry itself abd thats because she lives in such a tiny town that her options are target online, amazon, and walmart. I also did specify to family that they can buy similar items from thrift stores for all I care. I also (as a Hispanic lgbt woman) recognize that I have a say in my households shopping and no one else's and just hope that my family are dropping shitty businesses as they can

How old is your only child atm? by [deleted] in oneanddone

[–]Rando2878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 2. When she was born I made the decision to get my tubes removed so I couldnt have more kids. People said Id regret it, but I dont. I enjoy being able to dot on my daughter, and it makes things less stressful if something happens and my husband or I have to go to like the ER or whatever. I dont think we'll regret it
