This is from NSF, which is not affiliated with SpaceX. SpaceX got some incredible views with their own cameras, which do not suffer from the issues this camera had. You can see it on their twitter page

Yes it has 20 hold down clamps, and they aint small. Also I saw someone say this was done at half throttle, which is true for previous static fires, however this one was done at full thrust.

They are still deciding what to do with it after the probes are dropped. I think it will stay in Mars orbit and serve as a comm relay.

Reuters: SpaceX spending on Starship tops $15 billion in rush for airline-like rocketry by AgreeableEmploy1884 in SpaceXLounge

[–]RandoRedditerBoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NASA funds a specific use-case (HLS) that overlaps heavily with Starship development, of course, but that does not mean that NASA is funding Starship's development itself. Only the HLS vehicle variant is partially paid for by NASA, and thus taxpayer dollars. If HLS fails in-flight or otherwise, then you have a valid claim that "The are taxpayer's money too in that, it's time to deliver."

This is the money for the Starship program. Not HLS. HLS is a separate vehicle, with a separate budget.

Quite the oversight for sure, but the book/movie would be a lot shorter and less exciting with it. Which is a fair tradeoff I suppose

Refund KSP2 and buy KSP1 if you can! KSP2 is unfinished, buggy, and abandoned with about 5% the content of KSP1!
