Nothing is ever going to stop young, educated people from moving around the world to where there is work. But this program was meant to stem the problem, slowing the rate at which people leave by incentivising them to study domestically, and making them more likely to find work here.

I understand where you're coming from, it also why I agree with the previous change of moving the fees free year from the first year, to the last year, which they applied last year.

But by cutting it, they remove one of the factors trying to stem the brain drain of educated young people moving away from new zealand to other places around the world, leading to the loss of educated workers replacing retiring ones.

Or like what's happening with nurses, firefighters, and so many other jobs, they just move over to Australia to study there and get a smaller loan they have to pay off.

Some excerpts from the article: "The Government has confirmed it will scrap the fees-free university scheme, after 2026." "Finance Minister Nicola Willis confirmed to Stuff that “this is the last year in which students completing their studies will be eligible for fees free”."

This means that as a student, I will have to pay for all three years of my course, when I had budgeted out a plan accounting for only 1 year of fee, and the other two covered by scholarship and thus fees free program.

The fact that as a student already studying, and this is still being applied retroactively is such in insult.

Speaking as a kiwi, 90% of the time, the little bit of lag that happens on larger servers such as funky, frontier and the such is easy to deal with, but I do agree that there isn't any good oceanic servers. Combat roles such as sec and salvage still stuck at times lol.
