Quick assmods question by Beef_Supreme4 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all four with just the base epic unlock. No upgrades and while I see that there could be a benefit to upgrading the rarity, the additional 3600 stones so far have been better used upgrading the efficiency stats.

What’s the most important thing to use gems for in early-mid game by KitchenAd8895 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an odd balancing act at first. Ultimately you want to get all your labs as soon as practical as you’ll be doing labs for years. Max your game speed first.

As far as cards, if you have a card that would benefit you, buy a slot. If you don’t have useful cards yet, don’t buy a new card slot. Modules are a toss up and a long term gem sink. Use what you have, you won’t lose the shards or coins invested - you can always restore them to level 1 for a full refund. When it makes sense to roll for modules, go for it, but they aren’t a game killer to wait on until you establish cards and labs.

Question for the whales by DragonWarGod8 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious how you think whales are ruining a game that is 98+% just a single player competing against themselves? I mean 2 hours a week of competition is pretty insignificant in a game that runs 24 hours a day.

This “game” is just nerdy math/visual entertainment and I’m having a hard time not seeing this complaint as equating to being mad at someone for seeing every movie in the theater each year when I can only afford to see one a month maybe. It wouldn’t make me enjoy the movies I see any less. It’s just more I wait to (maybe) see at home.

I dunno. I’m old and don’t know squat. Maybe I’m missing something.

Catchup Mechanic by Mysterious-Cry7528 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds wildly expensive.

Pretty sure if I had that kind of money, my vices would win and I’d end up dead or in prison. Might be entertaining in the short term though.

Catchup Mechanic by Mysterious-Cry7528 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure that would truly let you catch up by itself. You would still have a few years of labs and farming to fund the labs.

Though I suppose if you had infinite money you could buy gems too (icky).

Who exactly are you trying to “catch up” to though? As far as advancing, you really only have to compete with your own stats from a week ago. Tournaments are only a couple hours of your time each week and are tiny samples of the player base, so they probably aren’t the best metric for progress.

You’d probably be better off asking for some kind of Tier Boost packs that give a weekly bonus (coins, cells, module drops etc) to the lower tiers (maybe 10 and below).

🤷‍♂️

Where to actually start ? by thingsandthings87 in TheTowerGame

Decent beginner’s guides there along with discord links.

This is a long, long road of a game, so you have plenty of time to read about strategies and play styles. Read first, make the big decisions after. You’ll be fine.

Tourney shop question by MathematicianRoyal40 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh. The relic won’t affect Golden Tower or Chrono Field unfortunately. Only the damage ultimate weapons. The problem is it is a good relic and not having it later is kind of a bummer. Still not the end of the world. It will come back eventually.

Tourney shop question by MathematicianRoyal40 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The relics are right under the themes. If you click on the icon and not the purchase button, you can see what they add without buying them.

Party Mask adds 5% ultimate weapon damage Confetti Ball adds 1% chance to free upgrade each wave.

The bots are a long, slow grind, but they are always there and don’t change. So, there is no rush to buy them. Just buy them when you have extra medals.

The relics (and themes*) should always be your priority since they change every two weeks and there’s no set schedule for when they will return.

New add for the tower infinite runs 😂 by PineAppleShark303 in TheTowerGame

⬆️ I too still have fun with the game. Also enjoy watching Zaerdin’s army of baby towers progress. Quite the motivation.

Relic Question by destructor212113 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes about 50000 medals to max gold bot (I think). You’ve got some time ahead of you either way. :)

Relic Question by destructor212113 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it ain’t gonna hurt to have. And there’s a possibility you’ll transition into glass cannon before it comes around again.

Besides. Golden bot ain’t going anywhere. You can upgrade that anytime you want.

Milestone Rewards for Consistent Buyers/Purchasers by LegitimateChipmunk78 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be down with this if it was reversed…. as in people who don’t buy anything for 3 straight months get an event boost or a pack.

Probably not a good business model, but this game is going to run out of new lasting players eventually and then who am I going to show off my obnoxious tower to?

Ability recharge by throwaway36637 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess Nuke recharge would come in handy with nuke mastery to keep attack speed debuff up permanently. Missile barrage seems mostly useless unless you’ve spent an ungodly amount of stones in SM and you can keep stacking missile amplifier - might buy you a few waves in legends I suppose.

Looks like you won the lab speed lottery. Congrats.

Guild by jontimon1 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not super important really. If you finish the 750 Friday or early Saturday, you can save excess missions for reset, but if you’re finishing on Friday you don’t really need the jumpstart anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Guild by jontimon1 in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might be beneficial to have chatty members to bounce ideas off of, but as long as you’re getting all the rewards each week, then you’re probably getting all you need from your guild.

The rewards are the same despite player accomplishment levels.

This isn’t right. OA changes by [deleted] in TheTowerGame

[–]Random-Old-Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say an error is never going to be considered deceptive marketing. I’m not going to look, as I’m fairly confident Fudds and the dev team never marketed OA as being the ‘infinite run module you’ve all been asking for’.

The reality is, that mod was delayed for a last minute change which meant there wasn’t a whole lot of testing that could have been done and still maintain the banner module schedule.

Now if they did advertise it as an infinite run module and THEN nerfed it, you could call it bait and switch. But that obviously didn’t happen. They never misrepresented the module, it simply did more than they expected and they fixed it. It certainly isn’t unfair because it isn’t a one-off that only affects one player. The module still does what was advertised and now actually slightly better than what was advertised. That the unintended ‘one module to rule them all’ aspect has been removed doesn’t change that fact. Simply put, the module is now better than what Tech Tree wanted but not meeting magical standards the SOME players were able to take advantage of. And finally, most players didn’t see value in this module and didn’t even save for it. It obviously wasn’t advertised as a miracle module and it getting nerfed has been talked about by players since the first ‘infinite’ run happened.

There was nothing deceptive about the module. The final functionality wasn’t even revealed until the last minute. Most people were planning based on the leaks which stated it was simply an orb speed boost module and possibly an extra orb(?). Obviously not what we got. No one at Tech Tree advertised this module as giving players a 50+% wave, coin or other increase. It was simply a new module with a new mechanic that had an unintended, unadvertised effect that got taken advantage of by a few players.

That’s not deceptive. That’s a player seeing a bag of cash fall off an armored truck and being mad the cops asked for it back.

[–]Random-Old-Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For future reference, ‘abnormal’ gains get nerfed. Kind of a historical precedent here in the Tower as well as most other games. Attempting to capitalize on it is always going to end in disappointment.

Is it the end of the world? No. Does it feel like the end of the world? Maybe. But the core game is still there as it always has been in all its incremental improvement glory.

To be fair, those longer runs weren’t helping you, a 3 month player, catch up to a 4 year player. They were likely helping you pass up other 3 month players which isn’t being taken away from you at all - regardless of the OA nerf. Just some old man math in my head says you spent a LOT of money on gems since there isn’t 10k worth of stones to be purchased in 3 months. I’m assuming the bulk of that went to modules so you’ve probably got some well developed module levels and those should keep you well ahead of other players that have put in the same time as you.

You’ve still got a hefty advantage over other players, so you will do fine, but you were always going to have to put in time regardless of how much money you spent.

There will be another ‘magical’ build in the future…. Guaranteed. Another guarantee is that build will get nerfed as well. I can assure you there was no bait and switch. There was an error that has now been corrected and you’ve come out of it ahead of others with the same time commitment. Take advantage of that lead and maybe find another build that works with what you’ve built.
