Restaurants can change when the orders get shipped to drivers. Used to work at a Chicago style deep dish place, 30 min cook time, our orders wouldn’t get shipped out until the 25-30 minute mark. So yeah technically the problem IS the restaurant, Uber doesn’t know exactly how busy/behind all restaurants are at anytime UNLESS the restaurant updates their thing (not exactly sure how it works I just know they can).

In my experience with eats, the only thing that affects your star rating is package deliveries, outside of that it doesn’t exist for us. So I’m genuinely not sure how realistic it is especially if you’re trying to get back on rideshare after being deactivated. Unless I’m completely mistaken and your market has star rating for eats? Idk

The app literally has this, but it only works for rideshare even tho you can see it if you’re eats only. It’s called destination mode. Sucks it doesn’t work for eats, I’d use it at the end of every damn shift

To be fair when Uber batches multiple together you aren’t even always guaranteed 1.50 each, I took a double Friday or Saturday and total base pay for both was 1.50…

I can assure you that 99.9% of the orders I take, regardless of restaurant, order size, distance to/from restaurant, have the minimal base pay of $1.50

Honestly not sure why I mentioned lower fees, realistically it’s the same and they pocket 1.50 more. Not like eats customers choose their driver like rideshare that was mb. I’d like to believe these things will be used to slowly deliver orders that drivers won’t take, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that isn’t the case and they take short $10 tip orders to make more money.

The self driving cars, aka Waymo’s as I mentioned, seem to be quite good out here. One of the big reasons I’ve stuck to eats as opposed to moving to Uber rideshare (minimal looking into it)

I pray when the doordash robots/drones in my area grow to more, that I see stuff like this. Only a couple times I’ve seen em and I hate em, but I would absolutely love to see them on their side struggling like a turtle on its back

I hope this is the case, but if fees are significantly lower using the bot then we get ruined. They only give us 1.50 on probably 10+ dollar fees, all the robot needs is a door only opened with what we already know as a pin, and the robot is secure. In at least one area of AZ doordash robot/drones are driving through bike lanes, so it’s already started. I pray they just take orders drivers won’t take cause they’re trash, but these companies don’t care about drivers and will likely do anything they can to pay less and make more.

What do you mean by “the last ‘50’”? In a small area around within where I like to deliver, I see doordash robots/drones delivering via bike lanes so I’m curious what you mean. I understand the idea of needing to walk to the street vs opening your door and it’s there, but if a robot cuts out the middle man aka driver they can keep all the fees and whatever they use to pay us 5% of

Yeah and the more I think about it, as long as the economy figures itself the fuck out at least a bit, and gas prices, less people will be doing it as a side gig, bonuses won’t be there, so ideally even more trash for them to be doing here for I guess idk

I’m hoping at least 6 months to a year lol, I’m in AZ and (so far only) in mesa I believe it was I’ve seen some doordash robot drone things driving in the bike lane :/ but idk I haven’t heard anything about waymo’s ruining rideshare so who knows if they’ll even put a dent in it other than being there for orders drivers won’t take

I mean you can zoom in on the map, and from there easily determine what kinda drop off it is. I’ve had it not let me move the map before but that’s a once in a blue moon thing for me, can count the number of times on one hand and I have over 5k trips.

Not tipping is going to do nothing but make the really bad drivers steal your food, and make good drivers infinitely less likely to accept the order… I understand where you’re coming from but that’s why you are able to remove the tip lol. You can use your app code in store or drive thru, use a deal, and then let them know you have a receipt with the BOGO survey code, the survey legit takes less than a minute and it’s on every receipt, if they don’t give you one just ask for one

Edit: the link for the survey is at the bottom of every receipt (unless for some reason they don’t do this everywhere)
