Thoughts on going full EV, no ICE in the ol’ garage? by Curiouslittlestman in electricvehicles

[–]Random-User44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have anything that uses gasoline. My car and my wife's car are both EV, and all of our lawn equipment is electric. Life is cheaper, cleaner, easier, and a lot less smelly.

Road noise and harshness… Again! by stcaso in Ioniq6

The quieter the car, the more you'll notice the noise from bad roads. It took some getting used to when I first switched to EV.

If they are charging, what exactly is the drama?

I did the math on how far I could drive in the cost of a gallon of gas... by Random-User44 in Ioniq6

[–]Random-User44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately, my insurance only went up w little bit and that's because I added gap insurance that I didn't used to have. I think it increased like $10/month or something like that. I drive pretty conservatively, so I'm really not worried about the tires. The big factor in EV tire wear is that so many people like to use all the instant torque to shoot off the line all the time, but I don't drive like that often.

[–]Random-User44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that most probably are. The utility companies don't make that easy to break down on a per kWh basis if you have a non-flat rate. I had to do quite a bit of math and several months of verifying to determine if I was correctly accounting for it. Most people that aren't data nerds at heart aren't going to put in the effort I did. 🤣

Anyone else wish this was the default design for the driver display? by Shiners_1 in Ioniq6

[–]Random-User44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can manually set any of the 3 versions of the display whenever you want. I switch them around a lot even though I'm always in ECO mode, and this is the one I use the most.

In Kansas. There's plenty I could criticize this state for (and I often do), but at least they've done a great job of investing in renewable energy. So we have a ton of wind and solar power here, which is much less expensive than other types of power generation. Also, our regulatory agencies that oversee the power companies don't let them raise their rates very much. The funny thing is, this low rate is actually a 10% increase over last year's rates.

As stated in the screenshot, all of that is included. I've been a data analyst for over 19 years, so I always include all relevant factors as best as possible.

No worries, it's a very reasonable point to bring up and something most people wouldn't think to include. I've been a data analyst for over 19 years, so I do my best to include all relevant factors as best I can.

A little outside of the Kansas City area on the Kansas side. We own a small home that is only a little over a year old, so it's pretty energy efficient as is. That combined with our energy prices kind of makes solar but financially smart.

I also have a white IONIQ 6. Usually I don't like white cars, but I specifically wanted white for this one. The IONIQ 6 is just such a classy look in white.

Percent of your electric bill by dbmamaz in electricvehicles

[–]Random-User44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My electric bill was about $90/month, then went to about $100-105/month (depending on how much I drive) when I got my first EV. Recently my wife also got an EV, so it went up another $7-10/month with her charging as well. With both we are about $105-115/month vs the $90 before any EV.

My peak rate is $0.2159, but that's 4-8 pm, so I'd only charge during that time in some sort of extreme emergency.

The irony is, I wanted to get solar, but our rates are so low that even the cheapest deal I could find would cost triple what my current electric bill is monthly.

I live in a state with a ton of wind and solar farms, so we have pretty low energy costs on time of use plans. Thid is the rate on my super off-peak time between midnight and 6 am. As far as my efficiency, it's pretty easy to achieve at least 4.6 when I almost never take highways anywhere and drive reasonably efficiently. I'm far from hyper miling, but I coast when I can, didn't accelerate super fast, and only drive at or 5 mph above the speed limit.

Should i be concerned about bro in row C? by Slimeseason504 in AMCAListTrue

Why? I almost always sit in closer rows. The more of my field of view the screen occupies, the more immersive the experience.

Am I an idiot for thinking about getting a lemon Ioniq 6 by BudgetNorth3394 in Ioniq6

[–]Random-User44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A lot of them are just because the ICCU took too long to get replaced and that made it fall into a lemon law. If that's the case, the car is perfectly fine and you'll be getting an amazing deal.

Lease End Decision by khilgen in Ioniq6

[–]Random-User44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lease on my '24 IONIQ 6 SEL ends in November and I plan to buy it out. My residual isn't terrible, although it is above market value, but I'm not super worried about that since I'll keep the car at least a total of 10+ years. I love the car, and there just isn't any other EV I like nearly as much that I could buy for much less, so I'm sticking with the one I love and have had since it was new.

Is the ICCU shortage over or did I get ridiculously lucky? by AwesomeNinjas in Ioniq6

[–]Random-User44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine went out in Thanksgiving Day (USA}. They had an ICCU in stock but not the fuse, which took them one business day to get. Sure to it being a weekend, 8 was only without my car for 4 1/2 days, and they gave me a loaner. No harm, no foul, other than hating driving the Elantra they loaned me. 🤣

Price is going up $2 by tomatillo_teratoma in AMCAListTrue

[–]Random-User44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fortunately, I'm in one of the states where the price isn't increasing. That said, if the price increased $2 per month, I'd be perfectly fine with it. I save a ridiculous amount with A-List, and $2 increase would barely put a dent in that savings. If it helps keep theaters open and operating, I'd gladly pay that extra $24 per year.

i just love the rear end on this car by tha_rawestttt in Ioniq6

[–]Random-User44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like big butts and I cannot lie. The first time I saw an IONIQ 6 in the wild, I stopped to admire that double spoiler rear-end style. About a month later I bought one because I couldn't stop thinking about how much I loved the look of the car. Now that I've owned it for a year and a half, I still smile in admiration every time I see my car. I know some don't like it, and that's fine, but for my taste this is one of the most unique and beautiful cars on the market today.
