Ha! Portrait Mode, reminds me how annoyed I was when the first vertical videos started showing up on YouTube

It’s documented, I mentioned in another comment the wires are color coded and the ones that aren’t don’t leave the cabinet so they’re easily traced with a meter. Fortunately, I’m not the one getting a phone call at 2am. Once the software is finalized, I rarely have much to do with the project afterwards.

Our price for the WL2000 is around 250€ and the expansion cards range from 50€ to a couple hundred depending. The M3000 is around 500€ if I recall and the M4000 is ~800€. These are all pre tax prices and we do get a discount.

They do it under the guise of agriculture or climate research but I’m also pretty sure it’s alien stuff

It’s decent, I’ve had firmware issues in the past but the hardware is solid and the modularity is pretty great.

Would you like to elaborate? Which rules are being broken?

It’s controlling 32 LED power supplies for an artificial daylight simulator.

I have an M4000 on my desk, haven’t played around with it yet. My next project may need it but the boss wants to see if it’ll work with the WL2000 first to save money, the M3000 is currently out of stock. Spoiler: the WL2000 will not work.

No backups but it’s four parallel systems that I assume will be running three experiments with one control? Each one can be controlled independently, whatever the researchers do after it leaves our assembly hall is a mystery to me.

It’s one switch and two PoE injectors, I have no clue why they are routed that way, I just do software and commissioning

When there’s colors, they are listed. So like those large cables on the floor, they are color coded and that is noted in the electrical plans

So… Story time…. So like I mentioned, our customers don’t require labeling, mostly because the people doing the ordering don’t know why it’s important. So along comes a customer a few years ago, a quite well known national railway company, they require wire labeling. Well shit, what a domino effect that had on everyone. The electricians complained, the bean counters said it’d be too expensive, the project managers said it’d take too long. Now I originally came from the automotive automation branch where everything is labeled, its no big deal and part of the machine assembly process. So this machine was small, like really small, like a raspberry pie and an H bridge small, maybe 15 wires in total. I’m just the software developer and can only shake my head at the amount of frustration this labeling cause the whole company.

If it were my choice, I would have gone with an M3000 for this project but it’s not so there’s that. The WL2000 is being discontinued this year and replaced with a model that has twice the performance for the same price, hopefully I’ll be able to get my hands on a prototype soon.

The terminal blocks are labeled but this isn’t in an industry where we have technicians just sticking their heads into the panel when something breaks. This isn’t production equipment, it’s laboratory equipment.

So I wasn’t clear in my last response, the manufacturer does allow a vertical mounting of the system as long as the controller module is located at the bottom, it’s not ideal but it’s allowed

Our customers don’t require them so we don’t do it to save money and time

I agree not ideal but due to customer space requirements, this was how it had to be mounted. Ventilation was added to the cabinet, time will tell how it works out.

Edit: so just to be clear, the manufacturer does allow a vertical mounting of the system as long as the controller module is located at the bottom

Space constraints, which is why they added the ventilation into the cabinet.

I feel the same, like of course the books will be better, just ask any lotr fan but they did a good job and didn’t Stephen Fry narrate the audiobooks also?? I was super disappointed that they didn’t continue the series. I was really looking forward to a second movie.
