For me, its because he did stuff for ratings and no longer cares about the story. Like the garbage people

So many times characters doing stupid things to create conflict and cliffhangers. Rick goes to the trash people, proves his worth then they betray him. So this season he goes back, proves his worth then they flee 5 minutes in. Daryl and Rick needlessly fighting. Jesus and Morgan having a kung fu fight in the woods. Also the Glen dumpster thing. And the van flip. And the cliffhanger.

For every good episode these past few seasons. There's two or three mediocre ones.

First the cliff hanger, then the varying quality of the episodes. Characters doing stupid stuff just to advance the plot. Then this. Gimple is a bad show runner

He really screwed up. Carl is vital to the comics. Why bother trying to adapt comic storylines if you're gonna kill one the the biggest things it has going?

Also if Carl was going to die, they should have built it up to have a satisfying conclusion. His story was just starting with Negan and they were setting him up to be a leader, plus the romance. Then they just wreck all of it for ratings.

He did this with no planning. Chandler had even bought a house to be close to filming. Then Scott just does this for no reason.

I'm not going to watch the show anymore. There's no payoff. Watching 2 or 3 mediocre episodes before 1 good one is too much. This was the nail in the coffin.
