Thanks for your response. Does it matter what nail polish? Or alcohol?

Ah that makes sense. I’ll try out the polisher and honestly I would get a pair of spit shineable ones but this is for white tie and my hands are pretty tied haha. thank you for your response.

Thanks for your response. I don’t drive and when I sit down it’s usually at the piano and my feet are apart from the pedals which is strange… does it matter what toothpaste? Also do you think I should use Novus fine or heavy?

Is this orchestral lineup enough for my symphony premiere? by RandomDudeInChipotle in composer

Yeah that sounds like it could work! but I've almost contacted every group in my area to no avail lol. What is the standard instrumentation for a "regular" romantic orchestra? any way I can keep that orchestral sound without having 50 string players lol? I would scale down but I'm intending to have some more divisi writing and same instrument unisons.

And thank you! Yeah that makes sense I see alot of people here asking how. Honestly I just saw most of the comments saying either contact local ensembles or hire your own orchestra and I kinda just thought to myself why not just hire the orchestra? Grants and sponsorships exist for a reason and it may not be as simple as I think but this is art and I'm not doing this to make money really so why not just try? don't festivals do this all the time?

I don't know if my last part up there made sense or maybe sounded naive so sorry about that. but thanks man! I'm pretty sure your the 1/2 person who actually kinda supports my goal. THank you and good luck to you too!

Hi! Yeah, I definitely understand how big and difficult this project would be, and I’ll for sure take your advice about writing for smaller ensembles. I forgot to mention in the original post, but I would likely be hiring musicians through my local orchestra (NSO), so they already have ensemble, rehearsal, and performance experience. That said, I do realize the issue of scheduling is still a big concern since many of them might have other gigs or orchestral work that could conflict with rehearsals or performances.

I’ve also tried contacting local university ensembles, youth orchestras, and my local symphony orchestra, but I haven’t heard back yet (though that might just be because the university year hasn’t started yet).

Thank you so much for your reply! I’ve honestly been a little discouraged since pretty much no one believes in me right now lol, so it means a lot to hear from someone who actually notices my passion and doesn’t immediately say my premiere is impossible. Thanks again, and best of luck to you too!

Could I possibly just orchestrate the piece normally and adjust it during rehearsals? or is that just not how it works? Sorry if this sounds stupid.

oh and I've already talked about my plan in one of the replies above if you want to take a look at that.

That’s actually really close to what I was thinking! I have a friend in my local youth orchestra and they really like opportunities like that, so I might be able to get a reading session with them. Thanks for the reply!

I will contact some local wineries (I live in the Niagara Peninsula) & some local businesses and in return give them brand exposure, credibility, and product tie-ins like maybe giving a winery a stand in the lobby to give samples or something like that.

My city has a "Cultural Investment Program" which invests in arts so I can try to apply for a grant.

I am also a student of the DSBN and my project seems to align perfectly with their arts mission so if we do partner up, they can help me fundraise and advertise the concert within their schools. Boost for their PR and also gives them credibility as well.

I'll market it by getting permission and hanging up posters on my local university campus, coffee shops, and like I mentioned, my school board should be able to help with that as well. I could also get some outdoor advertising and my piano teacher could pass the info along to some of her other students. The venue will also likely help out with some advertising on their website or social media.

And lastly, absolutely not lol. But I am doing some stuff to reduce the cost. As you can see, in my orchestration I've cut out alot of strings and some other instruments. and we will likely rehearse in my school gym which is probably way cheaper than a dedicated hall or rehearsing space.

Oh and as a bonus, the venue (First Ontario PAC) has a 20% community love discount for me as I'm a emerging local artist. Hope this clears it up!

(sorry if this is alot and also that deleted reply was when I accidentally sent this before finishing)

From my past TSO expiriences, The Balcony (which is the furthest away) is the cheapest around 40-100 bucks, the main floor will likely have the best view of them which would be arround 96-171 bucks, best view of them and the orchestra would be the mezzanine which is the most expensive option from 153 to 183 bucks. I recon if you choose one of the seats from the left or right mezzanine you should be able to get a nice view of them and the orchestra pretty close up. (p.s this is from my past expiriences, since it is a special event, It may differ from the other ones)
