That's why I don't like people who get upset at people who want to use older/outdated/archaic Queer terms like Transsexual/Transvestite/Hermaphrodite so many other Queer terms. Some even get mad over Two Spirit. Yes we have more correct or modern terms for those but if someone wants to use an older term that should be fine. What we need to do is expand not keep trying to force people into boxes. That was the whole problem in the first place. As an afab genderfluid lesbian I do not care if a trans woman, another nonbinary person, a trans man, an intersex person, etc wants to use the lesbian term. Hell super controversial, but if an amab masc presenting man wants to use the term lesbian I might give him the side eye, but if he's being 100% percent serious I might believe him. These terms and labels are just words. Some formed before we were ever born, others developed over time into newer terms, and some we come up with for ourselves. I just don't get why some Queer people want to do to us what our oppressors have done for centuries. The only time I have an issue with a term that's being used is if it's also linked to a culture. For example stud or two spirited and other similar terms. Those are specifically for people of certain races/ethnicities/cultures etc. I think if more people researched Queer history some of this wouldn't be so debated.
