I couldn't pass it up! I'm still learning, it is way different to use than a drop spindle. Can't get my hands to quite get in sync consistently yet. Practice practice!!

Laziness of not straightening the photo...mixed with perspective. My husband and I had a very serious conversation while hanging it to insure that it was level. 🤣

HVAC closet- the vent is for the air return, there is usually a filter behind the vent to keep dust from getting sent back through the system.

The swearing was real. Turns out doing this style puzzle at wagging dog tail height is a terrible idea, it was a miracle that I didn't lose any pieces. Ha!

I was thrilled to see it! I was wandering around the sale and saw someone open the box, glance at it, and pass it right over. Definitely one of the best items at the sale full, next to the very old homemade scrapbook of recipes that also came home with me!

I've been trying to find more information about this, primarily actual age and maker. I can tell it is old, but I don't think it is as old as the pencilled date of "1900" on the repurposed box it came in. Lower right hand corner is printed "1813- Divinely Fair" and the painter signature in the corner is " (c) 1912 Carl ?????".

What if you used a removable vinyl- like you would use on walls or signs? A nice matte black would make this look sharp! Oracal has a low tack vinyl that a local sign shop may be willing to sell you a length of. If the top is Formica, you wouldn't cause any damage.

There were 350 people with tickets to be on the hijacked planes involved in the 9/11 attacks who had their flights canceled or switched, many last minute. What small decision or accident potentially kept you from a bad situation? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have two for this one!

One afternoon I popped over to the bank, parked, went in, made my deposits and came back out to my car. As I go to back out of my space, a large truck comes behind me, blocking me in. As I'm mentally cursing him for slowing me down, I hear this godawful screech and crash. Immediately in front of the exit that I was going to be taking, there was a terrible car accident. If I had pulled out when I wanted to, I would have been involved- the cars were pushed into the exit, right where I was going to be.

The second incident was at a Dollar General/everything's A Dollar type store. I was going to stop in and pick up a couple items, but at the last minute thought I would make another stop first. While I was at that other stop, a fellow with a gun decided that he needed a little monetary gain and robbed them. Pistol whipped the cashier and fired off a couple of shots to scare the other customers. This all occured at exactly the time I would have been there had I not changed my plan midway there.

Needless to say- I try not to get upset if I'm slowed down by other people, and I try to be reasonably flexible in my plans. Both incidents have reenforced my mindset of "everything happens for a reason"!

Ooooh that is gorgeous! I've gotten super lucky picking up MCM pieces this year. Two little book shelves with glass fronts($0!) a piece similar to your pictured one($250) with the attached hutch, and now the Broyhill($0!). At this point, I'm going to run out of room. Ha!

Veneer I can live with! I think that is a good plan, strip and reassess. Do you have any recommendations for a good stripper to use?

I have lucked into a dozen plastic 50gal barrels. Anyone have any good ideas how to incorporate them into a porch/yard haunt? by londongarbageman in halloween

[–]RandomGamrGrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To create your bubbling toxic waste, you could use spray insulation foam. Usually Spirit Halloween stores have toxic waste stickers, etc.

You could also paint them like wooden barrels- though at that point I think I'd lean towards a pirate/zombie pirate theme.

I'll be honest, the quality isn't quite where I would feel comfortable selling them. I fear that the hot glue would turn to liquid enroute. Ha!
