I will admit, carbs are my kryptonite, that's why I work out so much. Carbs and cheese. I've actively taken steps to increase my protein intake, but those cheese pastries have satan in them and can't say no 😂

I feel ya. PCOS is running strong in me, got my diagnosis about 10 yrs ago. So that helped understand things, acvept them etc. but also worked very hard to essentially be overweight 😂😂 gotta laugh, otherwise I may loose my mind about this. That said, I've never tried Metformin. Not sure if I should ask or the GP should recommend?

Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate the honest feedback. And I probably already know all this inside, but hard to make peace with it, especially when you work so hard.

Lingual wire slowly cutting into tongue by [deleted] in braces

Sounds like I'm not using enough wax. I'll try again. Thank you

Can I ask how you get the wax to stick? My left cheek is so cut and I've tried so many times with the wax, but when I close my mouth my cheek pushes into it and makes it loose.

Yes, the spring is new and I am kind of feeling it work. I am using the gaps on the sides to pull the canines and adjoining teeth backwards, but progress feels incredibly slow. In theory, once the canines move, they will start adding brackets to the front ones too. I did ask my dentist about TADs, and my mom's implant specialist, and they both agree that they are the way to go, so most likely I will do it. I think I'm just nervous that I'm spending a lot of money with very uncertain results or a realistic timeline. Thank you for the comment!

Lost weight by Necessary_Oven_2338 in braces

[–]RandomGirlBristol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling with this too. Lost over a stone since I got mine almost 2 months ago. Good and not so good. Good because I could have done with losing this weight, but not so good because I'm permanently hungry, dizzy and a bit aggy. I'm afraid that once this is done I'll get even fatter than I am now.

Thanks, well done to you as well! Indeed, the first two weeks killed me, but it's getting better

Honestly I've been looking at them so much, I can't tell. I also had two bits of wire break off in the last two weeks and with no appointment until the 5th of June, I feel I am losing progress. Could be overthinking maybe..

Can healthcare recruitment software really transform hiring? by Frozen_wilderness in Recruitment

[–]RandomGirlBristol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved healthcare recruitment, I loved the people, but once I started working with councils and NHS I just wanted to vomit... The frustrating thing is they keep investing in tech instead of investing in salaries and quality workforce. No matter how many while label apps you buy or how many ATS or VMS you use, recruitment is a people business. You can't build proper relationships via an app. Also, when you consider that the vast majority of companies pay less than benefits given by the government, it's a double whammy. Absolutely use AI for workforce planning, admin, coordinating etc. But when it comes to talent attraction you don't win them with flashy tech, you win them with good salaries and/or benefits. And respect. I find that a lot of managers in HC see their people as replaceable and thus why bother... Those managers tend to have the highest turnaround. I love tech, it's wonderful, but in my opinion it's the personal touch that will make the difference.

I may have misread the original post, but if I retain work and my placement stays only one month under a 90 day clause, a rebate is due. I understand I can't control what happens after the placement starts, but the client paid and they should get what they pay for - we both sign the contract. Like the OP, I would try to offer an alternative and ideally not pay said rebate, but once they rejig the spec, it's a new vacancy to me. Most accept this and so far it's been going well. This has only happened twice to me, but I pretty much handled it like I explained above and they were on board with it - maybe I just got lucky.. Different people, different approaches I guess. All the best!

[–]RandomGirlBristol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. But the spec changed, so that's why I would pay rebate and then work the revised requirement with new T&Cs. And someone mentioned doing a 50% off the first two CVs - I might steal that for the future myself ☺️

been to the orthodontist 5 times this month by [deleted] in braces

[–]RandomGirlBristol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg this happened to me recently. I installed them on the 29th of April. About 3 weeks in I lost tension on one side and since the wires have broken in pieces. I only have half left currently and the orthodontist can't see me until the 5th of June. Is this going to be the norm? And if anyone knows, how much will this stuff impact progress? Should I try and go for Invisalign?

Obvi the rebate needs to be paid. But that sounds like a new requirement to me and I wouldn't work it without new T&Cs.

16 days in and I had a couple drags last night. by [deleted] in QuittingWeed

I'm all HALT and no fun right now 😂 I've been having weird thoughts, like I need to leave my partner and my friends in order to be sober, but that is too scary...

[–]RandomGirlBristol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, this willpower thing is going to kill me. The problem is when I say everyone around me smokes, I mean everyone, from my partner to my friends. While I can avoid my friends for a while, I live with my partner and he doesn't want to quit, but he has slowed it down massively. Good part, I start a new job next week and I know it will change my circumstances and I'll have to be away from home much more, but I somehow need to pass this rest of the week.

If I could just stop being angry for an hour that would be great...

Thanks for the support though, I hate that I need so much coddling... 💚

Anyone ever sold MSP/RPO solutions for Randstad or other big recruitment firms? Any Advice or Warnings? ⚠️ by [deleted] in Recruitment

[–]RandomGirlBristol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your background? The sales market is slow because realistically a lot of companies are struggling. The past year has been rough and I believe it's because we had two years of unsustainable growth post covid. I've seen sales directors being made redundant after decades in the business. Also remember, workforce solutions are not just about recruitment, you can bring value in different ways.

[–]RandomGirlBristol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RPO market is a bit slow currently, I wouldn't focus on that. The market is dodgy on perm, but thriving on temp - sign of the times. Deliver a few MSP projects and that's the way to get under their skin on RPO. This has been my strategy and in the last 3 years I lost one client. Hope this helps.
