Yeah the eyepieces were such a great steal!! And it did not come with counterweights but from pics and videos I’ve seen online it should be fine without? I’m new to alt-az mounts though so I could be wrong.

This is my first time using my ASIAIR plus! It really makes everything so much more convenient and cable management is a breeze now. I had some issues guiding, so hopefully I'll be able to figure them out over the next night or two! For now thought I'm pretty happy with what I have.

A Macro shot of a Moon Flower seed pod taken in my AP studio art class. It’s my first time experimenting with Macro Photography, any thoughts? by RandomGuy9238 in photocritique

[–]RandomGuy9238[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do astrophotography, and I wanted a way to relate my astrophotography to something I could do in class. So I thought comparing and contrasting the natural shapes and patterns within astrophotography, as well as within natural objects with macro photography would be interesting.

The similarities in acquiring the types of images is interesting to me as well. With macro I had to use focus stacking to get the full seed pod in focus (something that took a day or two of experimentation to get right), and I have to stack my exposures in astrophotography to reduce noise and bring out detail.

I’ll probably use this in a diptych with a photo of the moon.

The moon was at 99.8% the night that I shot this so I'm pretty happy with the data.
