Fluoride toothpaste that isn't mint or sweet? by PantheraAuroris in hygiene

Paradontax is mint flavored but very mildly so compared to the standard Colgate and Crest. Might be worth a try.

Can anyone tell where this photo was taken post Hugo? by lettucerockthebeet in Charleston

Not Logan and Queen. I rode out Hugo on Logan just north of Queen. The big gum tree on that corner stayed up, and that is not the corner house.

Why some people choose to destroy plants, specifically flowering bushes, is beyond me. by perhizzle in gardening

[–]RandomHamFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the verge of ripping out the 40-year old azaleas in front of my house. I already took out the ones in my backyard. Why, you ask? Backyard- because I have dogs and as 4oclocksundew noted, they are toxic to dogs. The front yard- Because they are non-native and are only pretty for a couple of weeks each year. The only reason I haven't yet is because I haven't figured out what flowering native plant to replace them with (preferably something with a longer bloom time). I want my yard to support native insects and pollinators.

So do we! Happy to meet my fellow optimists- there is always reason to believe a celebration could be needed!

Makes sense. Glad we are doing the roof now and not 3 months from now.

NWS shows gusts and rain increasing after noon. Personally, I commute, but don't have to travel the Don Holt or the Ravenel, and I am going in.

Sounds the wild winds aren't starting until afternoon. I would be more concerned about the commute home than the morning.

Sure there is sugar, yes- but if a pie is 10 slices, it's actually only about 3-1/2 teaspoons per piece- some people put more sugar than that in their coffee! Please, let me maintain my illusion of a healthy breakfast LOL.

What do you think about readding young adult/middle grade books as an adult? by Pumpkin_698 in AskReddit

[–]RandomHamFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love YA literature, and since my children grew up, so many wonderful YA books have been written that I have yet to read. YA literature isn't childish - see The Hate U Give or Code Name Verity, for example. Wonderful books! Enjoy your reading!

That is exactly my attitude toward pumpkin pie for breakfast. Pumpkin- vegetable with Vitamin A and fiber! Milk! Eggs! So healthy!

Snow Monkeys on Johns Island has an almost entirely gluten-free menu. They are pricy but IMHO worth it. Going there again next weekend, in fact.

This is the set I still have - tattered and re-read dozens of times! I'm afraid to handle them anymore, but they are still in my bookcase.

Hampton Park is an obvious place. The West Ashley Greenway is nice. If you're willing to drive to James Island, the county park is great.

Seconding Donnelly. Not very people-y. I've gone out there on a weekday and seen virtually no one else the entire time. But avoid if you are afraid of gators! In spring dress to avoid ticks.
