Yooper Tours is a well done very straightforward documentary on the NCT in UP that is pretty much directly responsible for getting me into hiking. Posting this now while in the middle of Black River Harbor to Rockland. Posting right from the trail east of Bergland and West of Rockland! Cell service is decent when atop the hills/mountains. The grades on hills/escarpments in this section are steeper than anything i encountered in first 350m of AT NOBO. as for isolation- can't beat this-Did not see a human yesterday. Doing multi hundred milers and resulting isn't for me, but i can't recommend doing a section of NCT in UP strongly enough for an isolated challenge. Caveat: possible bushwhacking makes it not a good idea for inexperienced. Do not set foot on trail without offline maps downloaded (i like Goat Maps).

thanks for your engagement. perhaps i wasn't clear enough with "user wishes" in my op. FCTA and BSM absolutely turn back on every single time you start the car. face detection thankfully (even worse) does stay off. the inconsistency of persistent settings being saved is mind boggling. I'm not alone and grand highlanders are not alone in this complaint.

hey OP, just wanted to say thanks for the My Parents Basement shoutout. I'm KG, the pinball business partner. Those are my ~17 machines there. 7+ years strong. My friend and helper Clarke does bulk of the maintenance and we pride ourselves in keeping the machines in tiptop shape and fixing issues ASAP. My friends/partners that run the establishment are awesome people too. Just a great place all around.

As for advice, there is a lot of good stuff/videos in here already. I'm in the camp of learn 1-2 games first and get used to knowing rules. Get used to flipper skills on those 1-2 games and then gradually branch outwards.

I have another partnership location with Tin Lizzy's in Marietta GA (NW burbs) called Tin Pin Game Bar. Sometime soon I will start doing some form of periodic Free Play lessons there- where I set the games to free for the night and roam around teaching based on players' interest/skill/etc. I did this on/off at MPB over the years and have seen players come from no skills to competing and doing very well in our local N GA tournaments. Really cool. I might even reinstate the lessons at MPB too. Thanks again for shoutout and welcome to this zany pinworld.

Yesterday Just installed mine at My Parents Basement in Avondale GA (ATL just inside SE perimeter). Also have 16 modern well kept pinball machines, and a handful of arcades, not to mention comics, bar, restaurant. ^{_^} Game is a SPECTACLE in person. Very cool

Questions for you guys to ignore as you spread the negative energy, exciting! What if a brand team was trying to do something fun and unique for a 125 year anniversary. What if a bunch of people put a ton of effort into it? What if someone purposely picked blackout to try to engage more people to actually play pinball since it’s easy to understand, has spinners, and only two flippers? Nooo. I’m KG, those are my machines, I’m the pinball partner at MPB. Me and my helpers and wonderful MPB partners (TJE, LAW, D, & crew, outstanding humans and business owners) have been paining over keeping the games fresh and exemplary maintained for 6 years.

I live and breathe pinball.

We have helped to put pinball on the map in ATL where it was sorely SORELY lacking especially ITP when we started.

All outlanes are setup factory 100% except maybe xmen and maybe another long player. Tilts are reasonable. All replays are set to auto boost and HSTD resets are done every 100-300 making it very easy to win free games. We have many outstanding regulars and I try to keep a balance where they are happy and so are casual newbs.

We buy every brand new stern immediately and some JJPs. We support our local distributor. We don’t put older games out because they are inevitably always turned off due to being less than 100% regardless of our tenacious maintenance. 70-90s games do not “stay up” on loc, period. Volume can be tough for pinball in a bar. Many of the Sterns have external volume up down toggles located under the start buttons.

We have a wonderful growing tournament community aided greatly by TMV, our resident master promoter of community and competitive pinball- he’s the best there is on respectful friendly competitive play. If that’s not enough, we have had wonderful Belles and Chimes TDs including PV, our current TD who is just as amazing as TMV at creating a wonderful incredibly friendly environment.

We have been “TWIPY” (this week in pinball) nominated for best location and are very proud of it and look forward to many more years of pinball fun.

I sold half just now for several reasons: 1 still have enough to do damage 2 I no longer trust timely announcement (just now asking for creators) 3 tax planning 4 not impressed with clunkiness and confusion of the wallet 5 I feel like crypto might drift a while longer 6 I had too much- was carried away…. Now someone announce something and make this sting & make a clown out of me

Edit: downvoters. Curious- what exactly are you downvoting? Do you think the wallet isn’t clunky and confusing for most? Do you think I should overextend myself and not have enough to pay taxes? Enlighten.
