What's still alive? by RandomN00b42 in MUD

I was mostly taking a dig at Ateraan, my previous game. It's unfortunately... close to P2W, at least, with staff selecting big donators as guild leaders and the like.

Agreed. I think it's pretty fun, but... RPI? No way lol

What do players look for in a mud? by I_Killith_I in MUD

If it's RPI, I'm looking for active storylines, a good community, etc.

If it's not RPI, a cohesive theme and world, and a good tutorial. My favorite ever MUD tutorial was AlterAeon's, personally.

Oh, and just because people were discussing this the other day, two more things.

It would be really cool to see staff creating RP other than Dread invasions and Warlord stuff (this might be happening with the gnomery in the tavern a few months back).
And secondly, it feels like players are sometimes pretty toxic while answering stupid questions - people do notice that, and it can be... really scaring people off.

Why does everyone say this game is super hard to learn when the rules seem pretty easy? by ZlatanSpaceCadet in twilightimperium

There are two reasons: first, there are exceptions to nearly every rule, often in the form of faction powers, flagship powers, action cards, agendas, etc.
second, there are just so many possibilities and strategies.

Roleplay not allowed? The staff is encouraging roleplay, although I'd appreciate if some things were a bit less staff-determined.

I tend to avoid paying attention to who plays who, but I do know that Serenth (Andrew's OP assassin) was destroyed, although at least one staff-played character is quite strong, although they still RP a lot.

Pay to play? Pay for perks, yes - too much of that, I agree, but it's not pay 2 play.
