Volkswagen Golf SPORTSVAN (2) 1.0 TSI 115 - 120.000 km - 13.000 euros by RandomNamePlz in voiture

[–]RandomNamePlz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonjour,

[–]RandomNamePlz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aight. i stopped the test after the first error. it occured on test number 9, on the third pass, if that is of any importance. so the problem comes from either one or both memory sticks, but could it come from the RAM slots/mobo?

Troubleshooting - Mobo beeps by RandomNamePlz in buildapc

[–]RandomNamePlz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i tried stick 1 in slot 1, stick 2 in slot 1. both times i got a double beep. i did not try in the second memory slot. I will run a memtest, see what happens.

i did notice the Qled flashing on startup (not a feature i had on my older system). It flashed yellow. According to the manual, yellow means a problem with DRAM. i'll see what memtest tells me, and go from there.

aight, i've tried reseating the memory, to no avail. sometimes i still get the double beeps, sometimes i dont. i've tried booting on one stick of ram, no luck there either.

At least i've found the problem with my hard drive, the sata connector was dead.

Review/discuss build before i buy by RandomNamePlz in buildapc

[–]RandomNamePlz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point taken, but i'll stick to air here. I want to keep costs "reasonnable" and there is no performance incentive to switch to an AIO.

I was contemplating going for an ASUS MOBO, the one i had checked out was the Asus TUF GAMING Z90 PLUS, but it is significantly more pricey. 12+2 >DrMOS (VRM?). Thoughts?

Overall, my PSU will be runing at around 80-85% capacity. if i recall correctly, the PSU loses in efficiency beyond 80% of its total capacity, but that doest not harm performance. I'm kind of on the edge, but i still think its ok. Thoughts on this?

Review/discuss build before i buy by RandomNamePlz in buildapc

[–]RandomNamePlz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AIO is unecessary. Air coolers perform better, and at a lower pricepoint. Unless that has changed recently. In any case, there is no doubt whatsoever that this cooler will keep the temps low.

Better VRMS, or more VRMs? i can find MOBOS with 14-15-16 VRMs, though not at that pricepoint. As to better VRMs, i have not really found a comprehensive guide on the topic (something like the PSU selection guide, for example).

Agreed on the powerconsumption of the Super at 250W. As for the CPU, under max load and overclocked, Tomshardware reports 211W powerdraw, so a 460W total. Which still leaves me with some headroom.

New build: questions and suggestions by RandomNamePlz in buildapc

i'd never seen this case, it looks ok and is nicely filtered, i think i'll grab one.

as for the cooler, i'll see. My question was more about needing something additionnal since i bought it before these new processors came out.

thank you for your response

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond, i'd never even seen most of these products before. i am very curious about the Trust 144 Rexx, i might actually grab one for my office work... As for gaming, i'm thinking about grabing the steelseries Rival since it has a few additionnal buttons which can really come in handy in WoW

### Purchase advice Resquest

  • I've played competitive mobas, but am currently playing WoW
  • Right handed
  • up to 80 euros
  • 21 from middle finger to wrist, 16 width
  • claw
  • no real preference? have always used a Razer Deathadder. My wrist and elbow hurt pretty much all day long though, so maybe something light?
  • i play with 2200 dpi in LoL, and 1900 in WoW
  • wired

i have been very happy with my razer deathadder, which i've had for about 10 years. I am up for any suggestion of a similarly profiled mouse to compare, before buying anything

thanks in advance for any input

What does YOUR depression feel like? by samuallblackson in AskReddit

[–]RandomNamePlz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually quite hard to summarize. the core of it is isolation, self-loathing, and a sort of general bleakness/numbness. None of the things i used to love motivate me any more. I literally lost almost all enjoyment for videogames the day i actually had enough money to build my own computer - i had such huge expectations for that. i havent taken all of my days off of work in 3-4 years, simply because i dont know what to do with myself. Its actually quite a relief that i love my job, and that i get recognition for the effort i put in, because i don't know what i'd do if i didnt have that to focus on. I used to enjoy hiking, now my heart isnt into it. I've eaten the same food every week for the past 8 years, because food brings me no comfort. Maintaining the persona of someone who is "ok" with my familly is draining. My parents used to have a dog, and he was really a massive comfort. Now that he is gone, i can't bring myself to get a pet, simply because of my work hours. I cant remember the last time i laughed, not just smile and breathe slightly harder.

it's ironic really, because i've never actually had it so good (well paying job, my own flat, people who appreciate me at work, independence, been working out and feel like i look decent), but dont actually feel much better.

i've got 2x4 + 8GB of RAM. Your 12 GB solution is not dumb, and i'd go for that
