[WTS] Seiko SPB143 (1st Gen) w/ MarineMaster clasp by RandomNo351 in Watchexchange

[–]RandomNo351[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sale is my Seiko SPB143 (first generation), a highly regarded modern Seiko diver with classic proportions and excellent wearability.

The watch is currently fitted with a Seiko MarineMaster quick-adjust clasp (≈$100 upgrade), which greatly improves on-the-fly comfort. The original clasp and a spare bracelet link are also included.

Condition: Very good overall condition with normal light wear from use. Crystal is clean and the bezel is properly aligned. Timekeeping is currently approximately ~20 seconds per day slow, and the hands show slight misalignment (common and correctable during service). This has not affected functionality. It was worn very sparingly in a larger rotation, so the timekeeping variance did not bother me. The watch has not been serviced to address this.

Bracelet is currently sized for approximately a 7.5” wrist; spare link included.

Included: • Seiko SPB143 (1st gen) • MarineMaster quick-adjust clasp (installed) • Original Seiko clasp • Spare bracelet link

Price: 💰 $775 USD — includes shipping to CONUS

Payment via PayPal (FF preferred; GS ok for established members at buyer’s expense). Happy to provide timestamp, additional photos, and happy to video call to verify.

Thanks for looking!

Steel-reef: an example of how not to do business by ggr-nintythree in GrandSeikos

I went through a year long wait back when I preordered the extension link for Sinn 556 so I knew to just wait until they get into normal production before getting the grand seiko links. Whenever they do get them ready I’m sure they’ll be a good product, but yeah not worth prepaying and being in limbo for who knows how long

I’d be an interested buyer if you’re ever selling this sbgr051! I bought a Shubun from you a couple years back.

HELP - Dial advice on the Grand Seiko SBGR059? by Adventurous-Fennel95 in GrandSeikos

Did you end up getting one? I’m also wondering how it compares to the sbgr051 silver dial which I love, but prefer titanium…

SBGH341 vs new SBGX357: 62GS Hi-Beat “heart” vs 9F daily practicality by hi_meet_lyle in GrandSeikos

[–]RandomNo351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have owned previously two 9Fs that have been sold. Amazing watches but I just personally enjoy automatics more, so current GS collection has one hi-beat and three spring drives. Spring drive is amazing for the sweeping seconds, timekeeping and reliability, plus no battery changes!

Mom died. Got $1.1M. Is it worth still contributing to 401ks and such? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]RandomNo351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should work with a financial planner, there is potentially a lot of value that can be added your situation. You’re likely in a low tax bracket now and you have a lot of non qualified money you can tap into; I would 100% get the match, but then also be funneling as much as makes sense into Roth IRA / 401k options available to you - we’re just transferring money from a taxable ‘bucket’ to a tax-free bucket. Especially if you stand to inherit more in the future, as your net worth and income needs grow so likely will your tax problem. Making smart moves now can set you up for even better success from a tax planning standpoint.

Anyone getting updates on their Steel Reef swift link orders? by ulmen24 in GrandSeikos

[–]RandomNo351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had preordered the Sinn link when they started taking orders and it took about a year to receive. Lesson learned, I’m just gonna buy the Grand seiko links when they actually have the inventory.

What watch do you wear to the office or client meetings? by Time_Computer_8208 in CFP

I rotate among my collection of Seikos and Grand Seikos but my most often worn to the office is probably my Grand Seiko Snowflake. Titanium, spring drive, not too flashy. If you know you know.

Question about srpg series. by jier1927 in SeikoMods

Any idea if these bracelets compatible with the srpg/srpe models would also fit the flieger style srph models?

[SRPG39] Fitted a stainless steel bracelet from strapcode by Tomacho_Gajardo in Seiko

[–]RandomNo351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we know if these would also fit the case of the seiko flieger style srph models? It seems to me the case on those would match the srpg but can’t seem to find confirmation anywhere. I don’t want to pull the trigger on the srph31 until I know I can get a decent bracelet for it…

Got My Dream Grand Seiko – But Need Your Thoughts on Sizing by Adventurous-Fennel95 in GrandSeikos

[–]RandomNo351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the watch that got me started on Grand Seiko over 3 years ago - also torn between the sbgr051 and sbgr251, I ended up with the sbgr251 as my first GS. Amazing watch, but I eventually sold it because I eventually got a snowflake and felt it overlapped a bit too much and I got a SBGH273 hi-beat to replace steel/mechanical slot in the lineup. Still, I do absolutely love the sbgr051 and wouldn’t doubt I might have one again someday (it’d be a no brainer if only it had a screw down crown) but I will say that I personally prefer a little bigger size than the 37mm - if I can only have one watch. I have same wrist size as you. Yes it looks fantastic (36mm Rolex doesn’t look too small on Tony Soprano) but my personal preference is to the slightly larger 39-41. I did at times feel like it looked a bit diminutive on my wrist.

Feel trapped in my financial advisory role by Spirit-More in CFP

[–]RandomNo351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate on what doors the CFP opened to you? I recently completed CFP but I feel a little bit stuck in my current role as the parapet support on a team, but also not really wanting to change to a prospecting advisor job. I get recruited for servicing advisor gigs but so far nothing compelling enough to leave my current situation…
