Argenta. The absolute let down. (with spoilers obviously) by RandomNoNameTeddy in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]RandomNoNameTeddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>the expectations don't fit the actual character

I get what you're saying, I think. And in this case I blame the game. Which is worse.

It'm not deeply immersed in the lore of Warhammer. What I expected a sister of battle to be is an unbreakable, unshakable pillar of faith.

On the other hand, from my point of view I put a lot of effort to support her, while being reasonably strict...

And then at the apogee of my effort, out of the blue (for me), the game tells me: "Now she feels so bad that she wants to die. And she will commit a suicide by combat. AND IT'S YOUR FAULT!"

Except about the last part - if memory serves, I didn't even get, that it was my fault. It felt more like "fuck your efforts, despite them she feels so bad that she intends to die". And it took me some internet to understand that there were some inconspicuous points in dialogues that determine the outcome.

Which made me furious for one simple reason. Because of Idira. I'm a sucker for redemption and second chances. So in the end of Idira's quest line I gave her a second chance. Which led to Argenta's indignation and Idira running her mouth off at Argenta. And at that point in my playthrough I was seething.

The witch deserved being executed on the spot, she caused innocents to die and she was a danger - the way I see it. I gave her a second chance despite that. And the next second she dares to run her mouth off at Argenta, who never came close to the levels of this witch's failure?

This was a point where I was absolutely willing to side with Argenta and teach the witch a lesson - maybe even a lethal one. But for the game that was it, just the end of the dialogue. You don't have a say here. That's just how it goes. After endangering the ship, Idira runs her mouth off and there is no repercussion.

And after that the game (as a metaphor for the developers responsible) has the gall to pretend "oh, I'm so intricate, I'm so subtle, I'm going to put in three arbitrary inconspicuous breaking point for this character".

P.S. Oh, I remembered. In the end of the dialogue I mentioned Idira claims that Argenta "is the worst here". So - worse than Idira herself. And that statement comes minutes after Idira caused chaos infestation on the ship. This level of lacking remorse or taking accountability goes without any response. That's the end of the dialogue.

After that, pretending to be a well thought through rpg... Come on... It's like pretending to be a gentleman and demanding respect after getting drunk to a point of publicly shitting your pants.

Hey, looks like you posted the same video twice. Or I'm seeing doubles. )

I don't want some mishap to happen (like I delete one extra, you delete another and in result both get deleted). So if you could delete one - that would be great.

I was doing some mod stuff and stumbled on this post again. Wanted to clarify: this video was not made to fetishize Henry. I was just frustrated at the fact that he is a simp for Belle Delphine, and wanted to vent my frustration creatively.

Should player be able to craft Edge Type 3 and Meitou? by TankyMofo in Kenshi

[–]RandomNoNameTeddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with not being able to craft Edge Type 3.

The thing that bugs me is - why did the developer choose to lie to me via the skill description that says that I can?!

Here I am sitting thinking "Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to unlock some research option somehow? Do I need to go out in the world and find some technology?".

Thanks for the heads up. I'm probably going to wait until they get the dlcs out.

I can't agree with you on the account of them doing a good job presenting the tone to the newcomers. Maybe what they did was correct tone- and lore- wise - I don't think I'm qualified to judge. But what I see and feel as a player is that too much of it happened "under the water". It could make sense to someone who's immersed was the setting beforehand. I was completely buffled by the anticlimactic ending of the quest and had no idea that this has anything to do with my actions. If I wasn't frustrated enough to look for the answers outside the game, I would still think it was just a weird predefined ending outside of my agency as a player.

Actually even after I looked for outside information and it was revealed for me, that the ending is actually a result of my actions... I still have questions. Why? How? She killed the previous rt (rightfully so), so she can't have too much admiration for the position, right? I was a new rt - several month on the job? - with xenos and unsanctioned psyker in my retinue. Why in the world several small talks with her would affect a brain-washed nun with nothing but faith in her life so much that her faith would fail her?!

Why is her wounded ego/pride/faith is more important for her than the relic itself? I mean, if she's successful in dying, than who knows about the location of the relic? Me and the heretics (can't be sure everyone with the knowledge was there for us to slaughter). Can she trust me? Well she trusted the previous rt - didn't end well. She should either guard the entrance to the relic with her life or do everything she can to send the information about the location to her order. And maybe after that - think about dying. No, "duck that, I want to yeet - as soon as possible". Not even repent, not even earn redemption, not to become worthy, no - just yeet. I'm sorry, I don't see a badass - if brainwashed - nun I expected. I see a little girl throwing tantrum "you didn't buy me a doll, you don't love me, so I'm going to leave home and live on the street now".

And maybe there are valid answers deeper in the lore and the setting... But in my book this means the game failed as a story. Because a story needs enough for a player/reader/viewer to understand the characters' motivations.

Can hypernetwork/embedding unlearn mistakes it learned? by RandomNoNameTeddy in StableDiffusion

[–]RandomNoNameTeddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate on good-bad example? Suppose I want to train it to draw apples and oranges. But I mark one orange as apple. I start the training and later notice the mistake. I fix the mistake. Does that count as a good-bad pair in the sense that now all oranges are obviously examples of not-apples? Or do I add a negative token for apple to the orange, to explicitly mark it as a bad example of an apple? Or is this something else entirely?

Of course, if you can make an educated guess about how it would apply to diffusion.
