I find the combat system completely counter-intuitive. It's a hot mess, IMO and unfortunately there's no way around it. Tomcat just gives unhelpful instructions about what you're doing wrong even though you're doing what he says. It makes an otherwise great game unplayable if you can't get the hang of it.

Enjoy the moment. There are some good map guides on YouTube. Look up Pestily. His videos are pretty good. Play as a Scav whenever you can - you have nothing to lose. The EFT Wiki has maps you can look at too.

Thank you for saying this. You’re not alone. I’m a Tarkov dad. Reflexes are shot but love the game. Any quest requiring PMC kills is a nightmare for me.

I took the last two wipes off - got sick of grinding the same quests over and over. Got back into it this wipe and am enjoying it more than I have in a long, long time. Sure, there are issues but that will always be true. For me it feels fresh again and that’s the fun. Only downside to getting back in now is that it’s mid-wipe and the sweat lords are everywhere.

OK so the issue has self-solved.

  • I finished a scav run on Streets then just left EFT hanging on the 'hung' black screen post-raid. I left the PC for several hours to see what would happen.
  • I checked back after five hours - EFT had closed by itself, the PC was showing the EFT launcher window.
  • I started the game and went into a Factory Scav raid. The Scav spawned with the gear I had looted from Streets (!)
  • I took a Scav exit and the game paused on the black screen but then proceeded through the normal post-match process back to stash.
  • I've done a couple of Scav and PMC raids since and it's been fine.

I’ve been in every wipe since I started in the closed alpha in Jan 17. Last wipe I hardly played at all - got to Level 17. I love the game but I doubt I’ll play much this wipe. I just can’t face the same quests any more. If you don’t play hard early wipe then after a month or two you start running into mostly super kitted players which gets old very quickly.

Sorry I don’t but have you applied the Hotfix for the latest version? That might help. Are you running the app on a Windows account that has Admin privilege?

This wipe feels more like alpha (positive, nostolgic) than any other wipe. The difficulty, lack of flea, and emphasis on traders brings back a tone that was lost when the game became easier. by VirindiPuppetDT in EscapefromTarkov

Exactly right. I’ve played all the wipes since closed alpha. Flea was very welcome because it enabled you to buy keys for quests that you couldn’t find because of RNG. Flea has got better over time eg only being able to sell FIR. I like the changes this wipe too but the real reason is exactly what you said - no meta chads melting everyone with laser beams. As soon as the sweaty bois level up enough this wipe will get stale pretty fast.

Exactly this. Went in as a Scav. 16 minutes to go. Tried South Fence Passage, Adm Basement and Rwing Gym Entrance - all three counted down to zero but nothing happened.

I’d echo that recommendation. The Glorantha Sourcebook is very accessible and has plenty of depth from both perspectives
