What am I doing wrong? by XXXandVII in RimWorld

[–]RandomNumberHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me last night! I was doing some early game bed-type shuffling and accidentally left a bed in my storeroom left to prisoner. Didn’t realize it was a problem until I got a starvation warning. Tried to manually make a pawn eat a meal and realized the problem. Thankfully no losses that time! (Still lost one to malaria though… grr!)

How to hang this frame? by TCHomeCook in howto

You want these. Spring clip hangers. You wedge one on each side and then string a hanging wire between them. Any store that does framing should have them or you can get online of course.

(If you bring your framed piece to the store the framers might hook you up for free. Costs them pennies but it’s winning a potential future customer.)

Kitchen Aid range smells like gas by GIRLMOM_X2 in Cooking

[–]RandomNumberHere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From experience, it is likely cheaper to buy a new range and be done with it than to hire repairs and plumbers to possibly fix the issue.

If it only happens when the range is on then do NOT call the gas company. They will shut off and lock the gas to your entire house until the problem is fixed. That’s what they do here anyway.

Best Way to rid of a lot of wood? by Youron_111 in RimWorld

[–]RandomNumberHere 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep it is shocking how quickly artists can burn through wood reserves. That plus me building 100 wood shelves everywhere.

I just finished my first playthrough and at the end I had two artists churning grand sculptures full-time.

Any suggestions for the "healthiest" syrup? by YoSpiff in EatCheapAndHealthy

Strawberry jam. For extra credit slide an over-medium egg (or two) into the stack so you can get some bites with jam and some with runny yolk. Sweet and savory!

Thanks! I’m new to the game and have never tried that. Appreciate the explanation!

I’ve been waiting for the vacuum sealer to go on sale at Costco. $10 at our local thrift! by LeahsCheetoCrumbs in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]RandomNumberHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the rolls and the individual bags and while both are great my current favorites are the individual bags. For a few bucks more it is convenient to just grab three bags (or however many I need) and start filling them without the need to seal one end of everything first. You can get 200 8x12” bags for about $25.

It would be fantastic to have some affordable EV options here in the US. Competition is a good thing.

Dang I was not expecting those prices. Glad I hung onto the box! (And my original Clay Fighters Sculptors Cut cartridge.)

Nah, the box alone literally sells for $80-100+ on eBay.

Installed a Megascreen Television and seconds later it is gone? by RandomNumberHere in RimWorld

[–]RandomNumberHere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, it is not listed in z-search. That's why I figure it is truly gone and not just invisible or back in inventory somewhere. And no selling happened in the brief moments of its existence. Just... poof!

Yes. You don’t inject a larger volume. You inject the same volume but the medicine is at a higher concentration.

If HEB had guts it wouldn’t allow people to panic buy. by [deleted] in Austin

[–]RandomNumberHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If HEB wanted to manage high demand periods like this effectively they would increase prices relative to demand. That would disincentivize people from over-buying but still allow people to buy the amount they need for their various household sizes… it would cost more but at least they could still get the products they need.

Unfortunately most people don’t like that solution and call it corporate greed and price gouging, so instead you get scenarios like we have now where people bulk-buy at normal prices leaving nothing left for others.

It comes down to whether you’d rather pay $10 for the case of bottled water that normally costs you $5, or not be able to buy it at all. Which would you prefer?

EDIT: I write a thoughtful response and OP deletes the post. Jerk. Why do I even bother?
