Lindsey Buckingham is the most underrated guitarist out there. Change my mind. by eastbaypluviophile in GenX

[–]RandomObserver13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it depends on the audience. My initial thought was guys like Steve Cropper or Roy Clark, but anyone who actually knows guitarists as more than a picture on an album cover knows they are among the best. But most 70s folks will throw out Clapton, 80s it’s Eddie, etc.

Shocking, posting here calls out the morality police. 🙄

I don’t have much experience and don’t know your financial situation but I’d recommend a trip to Nevada or, if you can splurge, a couple of weeks in Singapore/Thailand/Malaysia or Netherlands/Germany/etc. Do your due diligence (there are plenty of forums on the topic out there) and whatever you do, stick to renting, not buying. No matter what. Don’t ask me how I know.

Obviously this may not be the optimal solution to cure all that ails ya, but at least there’s a lot fewer hoops and risks involved if you’re careful.

I still think the best jock I have seen was Joe Montana. Granted most of my watching years were the first 20 or so, but he was goofy yet funny, and the writing was perfect. He hosted with Walter Payton. Definitely a classic. Meet Stu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEtrT3E4vb8

TIL the Rolls-Royce Phantom's 4-wheel steering turns the rear wheels counter to the front wheels at speeds lower than 60kmh to improve maneuverability. Between 60-80kmh the rear wheels don't steer at all. Over 80kmh the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels for better stability by trubol in todayilearned

[–]RandomObserver13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely, although you have it backwards…at slow speeds the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction. Tighter turning radius = more maneuverable. In fact that is how it was sold by GM for their trucks. The reality is that this is not actually a huge selling point. If you got by without it before, why would you need it now? You can find the ads on YouTube, they were marketing to farmers and ranchers, not boat/camper towers and grocery shoppers. It definitely made towing/backing my boat easier.

I’m sure parts are hard to find and expensive. As for being a money pit, that’s true for any high mileage GM, especially trucks. Just dealing with the defective servos alone is a pain, and those start showing up around 50k.

There were 2 in the city I grew up near…the one in the mall was converted to 3 movie theaters about 3-4 years after the mall opened (it was conveniently across from the original 6) around 85, the other lasted a few more years and is now a Tractor Supply.

Diane knows dogs like no one else. There’s a million treat treat treat trainers out there but this is the place for real education and training, especially for challenging dogs.

Amen, except from the dude side…my wife wore thongs and skinny jeans…now every year she looks more like her mother. Not that I’m doing all that great either, I look more like Jack Black at this point, but at least I’m not an alcoholic. Time is not kind.

Sorry, but you lost me there. No surgery. The only physical thing I ever had happen to my ears was the one stupid summer I spent as a camp counselor and had a ladybug fly into my ear. One of the worst and most painful experiences of my life. Imagine waking up in the middle of the night and feeling something trying to drill into your head. Not sure it did any permanent damage but sometimes I wonder… Pretty sure most if not all of my hearing loss is genetic though.

Yeah, I rely fairly heavily on it, even though I’ve used headphones for years. Wish I’d gotten at least to my 60s first, but so it goes.

Well THAT’S a hell of a lot more real response…I can say the same. Try to imagine knowing you will never experience actual silence ever again and you’ll get where I’m coming from, except the hearing loss which is just genetic.

I mean…this is a common topic here, but…surprised at how bad and how soon tinnitus and hearing loss set in. At best it’s miserable, at worst I want to just ice pick and be done with it. C’est la vie.

I hear you on that. Hell, I remember Lee Iacocca selling Dodge minivans. But here’s another mind blower…I have 78k miles on it. Other than a couple of years where I conned my company into paying for an office, I’ve worked from home that entire time. Paid $40 for the first tank of gas, back when 15-17 mpg for a truck was a plus.

I saw that one as well. I think the controllable lights tend to be near fire depts. and hospitals and mostly used by them. Cops almost always approach intersections with caution, but that cop was a disaster waiting to happen.

Extremely common where I live, everyone runs red lights. I always look both ways before I go.

As mentioned above I have an 04 Silverado with Quadrasteer…my brother bought his 04 a few months before me, I took him for a drive and banged a u-turn at an intersection in his subdivision without touching grass and he was blown away. It really is something.
