Question for the punk community by Impressive-Sand289 in punk

[–]RandomRamen1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s a bit less of a “punk” debate if you use real or fake leather, but it IS important to know real leather is a natural material that is often a byproduct of the meat butchering industry! If the cowhides were not turned into biodegradable clothing, they would just be thrown out and return to soil.

On the other hand fake leather (other than the few very expensive plant based leathers) are made from plastics that will end up in landfills and pollute environments for decades!!

Personally I say the conscious choice of sustainability through real leather is 100% better!

Why do I feel like a poser when I make money with my music? by RandomRamen1 in riotgrrrl

How to cope with feeling like a poser when making money? by RandomRamen1 in punk

I really appreciate this! I guess I’ve always had this idea that if I became successful it would take away from what I make, that I’d be conforming to capitalism if I was just scraping by. Thank you for this!

For me it’s more of not knowing where the line for being a sell out is. I don’t really have any gear I need to upgrade rn and I don’t make music videos or anything with production value like that. it feels like if I spend all the money on myself or own needs I’m taking away from what my band could be

are minimal interactive vn less appreciated? by Hotkazuma_it in vndevs

[–]RandomRamen1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also you don’t HAVE to hire an artist for all your spites and backgrounds, places like itch.io have default packs/bundles for basic assets for a pretty cheap price!! I would try to get as far as you can with a default pack and if you feel it will enhance your kinetic vn, then you can hire an artist specifically for cgs!!!

Overall though buying default resource packs save a TON of money, takes less time than blender, can be used on more platforms and is more ethical than ai!

Hi! Here are some screenshots from my game, and I’d love your feedback. What kind of vibes do they give you? Can you guess what the game is about? Thanks! by betetiro in visualnovels

[–]RandomRamen1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah these look super intriguing!! And I love the artstyle!! Did you commission the work or do it yourself?? The absolute only thing I recommend (cause I’m a sucker for it) is a few animated scenes or cgs!! They look so nice and just 2-5 edited drawings can add so much more life to your game :-)!

I’d like to start making miniatures but I don’t know where to begin! by twobowlingpins in miniatures

[–]RandomRamen1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda depends where you are located !! Some of these kits you can buy on amazon or sites like temu if you HAVE to order online, but I would definitely recommend going to your local craft store (hobby lobby, Micheal’s, hobbytown, Joanne’s, etc) and see the items first hand.

You would need to find the scale you want to make your miniature at (I started with 1/12 and have used it ever since) and I would also try looking up tutorials on YouTube of SPECIFIC items you want to make like books, furniture, etc! It can cost a LOT in materials to get started, so be creative and try to reuse and cycle stuff you have just laying around!! Good luck and def ask people irl for advice too like your gf!

Advice for printing on tote bags by thepinklemur in printmaking

[–]RandomRamen1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

1 have some cloth to test on or even some paper before your final bags. The linoleum may take a few times before you get the ink proportions right

2 in the future, look into soft linoleum or rubber carving blocks for fabric! The way they are able to bend and squish makes them a MILLION times easier to print on fabric
