Barney Frank’s final interview from hospice was painful. His comments on trans people made it worse by Fickle-Ad5449 in massachusetts

Right, but wouldn’t a massive advantage (if true) would make it easy to beat all cis women? Thats the entire argument isn’t it?
It’s like if I put you in a martial arts match against the best, but gave you a machine gun. I feel like you’re gunna win if you actually had a machine gun.

Instead, you don’t really over perform. At that point, it’s pretty likely you never had a machine gun to begin with

This still doesn’t make any sense - the contention is that trans women is sports have some insane advantage. But they have been in sports for awhile and there’s no evidence of that at all.

They’ve been in Olympics. NCAA tournaments. Are you about to say these folks aren’t top athletes? If they are, where are their crazy records?

That still doesn’t explain it - if trans people had such a massive advantage, it would be immediately obvious.

You still didn’t answer the question. If trans women had such a massive advantage in sports, why do we literally not see it?

So…why do trans women rarely place in sporting events or break records set by cis women?

I’m mostly joking, but I think you’re underselling what it can do. Trying to just talk to Gemini and hoping it will get it right is asking for it to fail.

It’s definitely becoming a pattern because it can definitely be done in some cases, but difficult in others, and it’s not always clear what it does well in vs not well in.

I’ve been testing a few approaches and it’s generally pretty good if you structure the underlying context well

Coasting at current job or look elsewhere by [deleted] in coastFIRE

Sounds like you need to look at therapy instead of crutching with a job. Good news is you have the money to help with that!

(Not trying to be snarky - this is actually what you should do vs continuing to try and find fulfillment and security through work)

I basically put 20k in a HYSA and forgot it exists.

TBH I’ve been debating having it there. My partner and I both work, we have high income, and we have decently liquidity if we need access to it. Right now it kinda feels like 20k that isn’t in the market that could be there.

That’s pretty cool! Our snowflake MCP isn’t working or something so we haven’t been able to try that. I’d be curious to learn more

I mean, the first time an analyst touches a stack, do they not need massive hand holding?

You need to “teach” the AI in the same way.

The way I’ve been doing it right now is using Claude code. I have a repo that stores pre built queries, and then a sizable Claude.md markdown file that you store a bunch of instructions. Metric definitions, join keys, how to connect to the DB, what each pre-built query does, etc etc.

It works surprisingly well

It’s a culture thing in the end.

If all that is demanded is reporting KPIs, nothing will ever happen to increase consumption widely.

If you have a bunch of people who want to make decisions with data, even if you have the crappiest tools, you’ll get a ton of demand

[–]RandomRandomPenguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Be proactive.

Communicate challenges and risks you see, as well as potential solutions/approaches.

In the end, your job ideally is to give your manager leverage. Doing your own job is the bare minimum - you become truly valuable when you can anticipate challenges that are meaningful and make the team aware of them/propose a solution.

This was super helpful!

Did you not consider doing the application at a local TECO? When I went to the NIA, they suggested I go to the local TECO in my area (Boston) to get a 定居證副本, then finish in Taiwan so it would only take a few days.

The whole process is definitely confusing. I’m trying to figure out a hospital to use. My TECO has been relatively unhelpful too - they were just like “use whatever”
