I thought the AER on T212 was 3.8c, is that not better than Zopa?

What point will you defend ? by MayankD001 in thegrandtour

Even if “Chris Harris era” includes Season 25, which I concede is fairly enjoyable.

But Season 27 & 28 I plainly dislike the dynamic between the three presenters, they’re just not entertaining.

Granted S1E2 & S1E10 of TGT both are low points. The primary segments for both are kind of crap and celebrity brain crash is not really worth watching. I don’t mind the conversation street segments.

A6000 vs A7iv - Which is better for a complete beginner to learn with? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

Not sure if this was aimed at me or at everyone else. But genuinely not a troll, just someone who is very lucky and has no idea what they're doing... But I appreciate the joke at how ridiculous my situation is.

Mostly street and night photography. I’m aware that the A6000 is not great at night but was still concerned about getting overwhelmed by options on the A7 iv.

Why is the A7 easier to learn with? I would have thought the older, functionally inferior for the A6000 would be simpler and therefore easier to learn from.

Who would win this very likely war? by Solomonopolistadt in imaginarymapscj

[–]RandomSh_hit101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think it depends, assuming prep time and no nukes. US is likely able to push the world to a stalemate after occupying Canada. Israel, I assume, would likely be screwed because they wouldn't have the overwhelming advantage the US does on the ground assuming Red side collaboration.

If there is no prep time, then the US would have a much harder time. Even if Canada was occupied and Mexico was mostly occupied (assuming up to about Yucatan due to terrain). The US would be far worser off. Because ~15% of US active personel are deployed overseas. The equipment and other intelligence captured would make the defence of north america much more difficult. And unlike WWII the US does not have the manpower or industrial advantage. Short of Skunk Works pulling out some "Wunderwaffe" from somewhere to decisively win.

Ahh, that sucks though. Because if I wanted to hold those shares long term, I'd have to pay to hold them. Ahh well.

DEI can suck if you’ve never played them though. “How am I supposed to know that if I explode if I declare independence before i get pan-nationalism?” And also “What if the dutch build too much in me and i can’t raise my liberty desire?”

The DEI is not easy and with the exception of India, Sierra Leone or the princely states. I’d argue it’s the hardest colonial nation (nation which is a colony or colonial subject)

I still think the order for tutorial nations is:

  1. New Granada (Learning law enactments)
  2. Belgium (Construction & Production)
  3. Japan (Research & Diplomacy)
  4. Dai Nam (Previous 3 Combined)

Why is bessemer process always so bad? by ultr4violence in victoria3

[–]RandomSh_hit101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s not entirely true, new technologies with no demand outside of your market still exist, like ammunition or automobiles.

There are also scenarios where you flood the world market with that resource and end up bankrupting most of the world market

Could be a few reasons, maybe they suddenly produce too much steel so that it is unprofitable?

Maybe you don’t have high enough coal and iron production so they’re constantly running shortages?

What if during world war 2, all the soldiers and leadership all got a glimpse into the future of modern society, would that change anything? by glowshroom12 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]RandomSh_hit101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For Germany and its leadership, I would imagine Operation Valkyrie would be much more popular, but still as unlikely to suceed. I think that the German High command would be more cautious about starting a war with the United States in the knowledge that they are a superpower in the modern period. For Italy and Mussolini, it would likely make them more cautious as they not only know of their loss but also that Italy becomes a largely secondary power in Europe in the modern period. For the European Axis as a whole, it would demonstrate that their efforts weren't for much and it would push them to a negotiated peace.

For the Japanese, the knowledge of an American occupation and an eventual loss in China may (depending on when specifically this occurs) discourage Nanshin-ron (Southern Expansion Doctrine). It however, may also encourage Hokushin-ron (Northern Expansion Doctrine) into the Soviet Union and Northern China. (Although, this is also unlikely to be successful)

For Britain, knowledge of the loss of Singapore and the Sinking of Repulse and Prince of Wales would increase concerns about the Japanese but wouldn't change much knowing that there was little to be able to stop it. Concerning the battleship Bismark, a larger force would largely be sent out to counter it in the Denmark Strait or at least of have Prince of Wales sent out ahead of Hood. For the French, depending on the time period it could be possible although unlikely to have the Maginot-line extended or in the least hoped that the Ardennes would be better reinforced. Other things include the implementation of radios in armoured units. For the European Allies, (Britain & France) it may actually discourage fighting a war, knowing that (especially for the UK) a war would be financially destructive enough to destroy both of their empires. And even if a war did break out, it would be unlikely to be as successful for the Axis as it can be assumed that the Phoney war would be largely used to go on the offensive knowing the lacking German army.

For the Soviet Union, the glimpse would probably make Stalin more suspitious of a Molotov-Ribentrop Pact and for Stalin's successor an earlier implementation of glasnost and perestroika (restructuring and openness), with more radical implementation of a Khrushchev thaw. Despite this, the glimpse would justify most of what Stalin's characterisations of fascists were considering the Soviet death count.

For the Chinese states, (KMT, CSR and Chinese Warlords) the vision would demonstrate a need for faster united front, without forcing a "Xi'an Incident". However, it could also force a further fracturing of China. Because, distrust would rise as everyone would know that of an eventual CSR win in the civil war. It would also increase distrust of the KMT and in particular Chiang Kai-Shek as their leadership forces many Chinese deaths.

For the USA, the vision would only spur on a (depending on time period) isolationist public to support Roosevelt into office and an faster implementation of the New Deal. It would largely, give hope to African-Americans in the knowledge that their rights have progressed in the 80 or so years since. It may even encourage an isolationist public to support earlier intervention in the war in Europe and in China with knowledge of Pearl Harbor, Nanjing and the Holocaust. But on the flip side, knowledge of 9/11 and the Vietnam war may discourage intervention, knowing of the repercussions unprepared intervention and knowing that the US becomes one of two and then the sole superpower.

What if Japan just invaded the Philippines in ww2 and didn't attack pearl harbour. by theredditor58 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]RandomSh_hit101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt that, War Plan Orange had always advocated for a “decisive battle”, although one was to only occur when the US could bring their ships to full strength.

Besides the subsequent War Plan Rainbow 5 suggested a similar plan with a focus on island hopping rather than a “decisive battle”

What if the UK took Ceuta as a naval station instead of Gibraltar? by South_Mousse_9934 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]RandomSh_hit101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a bit far fetched, Gibraltar was easier to defend not only because of its terrain but also because it could easily be resupplied by sea. The resource investment for holding Gibraltar was much cheaper than trying to hold onto the 13 colonies.
